Video Game Chat / Why don't any of you people have Kings Quest?
« on: April 03, 2010, 11:05:06 AM »
It's a beautiful series of computer games. Sure, the first four games had extremely inferior graphics, but that's why it was so charming.

The 7th game is probably the best, and also the last game considered in continuity since the final game was vastly different (despite being worked on by the same person). Kings Quest VII seemed to be set up like a Disney Princess movie, complete with a musical style opening:

Wait a sec, why is this called Kings Quest but doesn't include the King?

Well, the King had a family, of which all four members each went on a daring adventure (including the Queen, as seen in the above video). The King was the star of KQI, KQII & KQV. His son was the star of KQIII & KQVI. His Daughter was the star of KQIV, and one of the stars of KQVII. His wife only had a starring role as one of the stars of KQVII.

Some of you may have heard of Kings Quest V on NES. We should forget that ever happened because KQV was a beautiful masterpiece on PC, but horrendously tarnished on NES. Here's the PC intro

If you liked the Kings Quest series, you should check out the other Adventure games Sierra created during the late 80s to mid 90s. Recommendations include the Space Quest series, Leisure Suit Larry series, and Police Quest series.

Mario Chat / Tv_Themes hates the factory even more now...
« on: March 12, 2010, 07:06:09 PM »
Yesterday, I picked up a game I meant to get two years ago - Wario Land: Shake It.

I have NEVER had more fun with my Wii in my life. I've only played it for half an hour at max, it really drains your energy because you're going to shake that Wii Remote like crazy! The cut scenes are awesome (big fan of hand drawn animation), the music is great (big fan of jazz as well), it's borrowing from Kirby (in the treasures you have to collect alongside the coins) and so far, NOTHING even acknowledging the factory!

Where are the likes of Mona Pizza, Jimmy T & 9-Volt? Nowhere to be found :D

Who do we have instead? Captain Syrup (!!!!!) and the Goom Pirates (as I call them)! I mean, this is a Wario Land fanboy's wet dream!

Too bad there probably isn't going to be any more games like this in the near future.

General Chat / Should Justin Bieber just die?
« on: February 21, 2010, 01:26:16 PM »
What is he adding to the recording arts industry? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I'm sick of how the music business works. Each new singer gets so popular one week, then the next nobody cares for it anymore. What happened to Lady Gaga? I remember she used to be all over the radio, now nobody cares because its all about this Justin Bieber. Whats worse is these people think they are destined to be world famous just because they're famous now, but its just a fad. I guarantee by the Summer, nobody is going to be listening to Justin Bieber anymore, then he'll wind up on a VH1 "Celebrity" show to try reclaim his 15 minutes of fame.

Mario Chat / "I hate that singing tape."
« on: October 02, 2009, 09:39:15 PM »
Christmas of 1995 was rather lackluster for me. I blame this on my list of gifts sent to Santa, the only thing I put on it was "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island." Well, I got it but nothing else from jolly old St. Nick, but I did get other scattered gifts from family and friends.

So for the rest of 1995 and the beginning of 1996, I spent a lot of time on Yoshi's Island. Because of this, I was constantly plagued by one of the most annoying things in any game; the obnoxious wailing Baby Mario would make when Yoshi lost him.

At the time my bedroom was right next to my grandparents, so my grandmum would often walk past my bedroom, thus she would hear it plenty of times. One time she walked past my room as I was playing and said "I hate that singing tape." Confused, I ask her "What singing tape?" She answers "HEY?! HEY?! HEY?!"

Regardless, Yoshi's Island was a good game, but it was plagued by graphics that NEED to stay where it is. You have no idea how tired I am of seeing Yoshi's Island graphics in SMW hacks, but I digress.

Fan Creations / Star Girls 2 - Tanooki on Fire
« on: September 27, 2009, 09:59:05 PM »
Two years after Jess & Gina's time playing Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3 was released for the NES. They were fascinated by it and thought it was a great sequel.

Little Tv_Themes was watching his babysitters/cousins play the game, but all of a sudden, Gina said "Oh my, what happened here?" Little Tv_Themes looked at the screen, something strange had happened to Mario. He was Raccoon Mario, but it also looked like he was Fire Mario at the same time! Even stranger, Gina pressed just one button, and Mario transformed again, this time it appeared Mario was a dog catcher! There was a net on his back and Mario seemed to throw nets which killed everything they touched. "What is going on here?" asked Jess. "What are all these strange powers Mario is having and what is triggering them?"

"It's the Select debug mode!" Said a mysterious voice behind the sofa.

Little Tv_Themes curiously looked behind the sofa and out came a glorious sight. It was the Star Girl!

Fan Creations / Wario's Bad Ending
« on: September 26, 2009, 06:59:34 PM »
A clearly emaciated Wario continued to stagger through the hallways of Syrup Tower, eyes continuously set on the Syrup Pirate's plunder of riches beyond his wildest dreams. He came across a door at the far end of the hallway, on it a sign reading "Residence of the Beautiful and Arrogant Captain Syrup. Do not enter between 6 & 8 PM. Wario looked at his watch, time reading 7:48 PM.

"Too bad lousy b*tch." Said Wario with much pride as he ate a clove of Garlic and became Bull Wario.

Inside, an angry Captain Syrup proclaimed "Ah, if it isn't Wario, the man who's greed is so big, no other of the seven deadly sins will ever send him to Hell. Fortunately I am prepared to fight you."

Captain Syrup took from her bra a lamp similar to what a Genie would be in, Wario smirked. Nothing came out of the lamp. Wario's smirk became a full teeth bearing smile.

"Hahaha, I'm afraid you have been betrayed my dear" said Wario, "Your court clown Jollo has given me your Genie's REAL lamp." Wario took the lamp out and rubbed it. Out came a rather churlish looking Genie.

"Uh-oh." Said Syrup, "Okay, I give up! Take all our treasure, there is just no way I can stand up to a genie."

Wario recalled the genie and jumped off the tower, to his astonishment, the bricks and steel of the tower melted into a statue bearing the likeness of the beautiful Princess Peach Toadstool Esquire the Third. "Hahaha I've done it! I've struck it rich!" exclaimed Wario.

Suddenly, the sounds of a helicopter came by, it was piloted by Mario, Wario's sworn enemy and rightful heir to the Mario throne he previously stole. Mario attached a magnet to the crown of the statue of Princess Peach Toadstool Esquire the Third, and flew away with it.

Wario, rather miffed that Mario has beaten him again, reminded himself of the genie in the lamp, and that genie's grant wishes. Wario rubbed the lamp, and out came the genie, this time looking joyful.

"Genie, I wish to become the richest man the world has ever seen."

"Your wish is my command master." The genie clapped his hand and struck Wario with a bolt of lightning, the churlish look of the genie returning.

"AHAHAHAHAHA fool. Did you forget? I am an EVIL genie. Evil genie's only goal is to bring torment and misfortune to their masters. Fortunately, I am in a good mood today so I will grant your wish the way you want it, but with horrid, horrid twists."

"Okay, what twists?"

"Instead of STEALING your money, you will EARN it. Your character will completely be revamped. I have constructed you a factory in the city of Diamonds nobody has ever heard of. With this factory you will pollute the air with smog, cause global warming, but all in all, you will still make your money, by working as an honest business man."

"... Okay..."

"I'm not finished yet, I have replaced your whole wardrobe with forgettable attire. Say goodbye to the swell purple and yellow plumbers suit. You will now wear a pointless hard hat and a denim jacket. Oh, and Garlic will no longer give you super strength and bull horns. Instead, it will transform you into a pajama wearing freak, courtesy of this ridiculous factory which I guarantee will ruin your image.

"Look, buddy. I just want a castle, can I pay you?"

"NO! I am an evil genie, and too late, you've already made your wish, and I am granting it. I am not finished by the way. I will also give you an entire employment of poorly designed and annoying characters that are destined to make 0% impact on the Nintendo industry. And that concludes your wish kind sir. Ciao, cyanaro, alfitizen, adios!" The genie vanished.

TWO YEARS LATER

Wario said, while counting his honestly earned money "Why couldn't he just give me the bird house?"

Mario Chat / Where do you stand on SMW Hacking?
« on: September 22, 2009, 05:38:31 PM »
Out of all Mario games, SMW is the most popular for Rom hacking, so what do you think of it?

Personally, I feel it is one of the best thing in video gaming right now, SMW was a great game and with Lunar Magic, the game is now virtually endless. And thanks to the Wii with Homebrew, we can play these hacks, right on our big screen HD TV's! Isn't that something?
