Title: Suspicious About Brawl
Post by: Corleone on October 29, 2007, 04:31:59 PM
Don't you guys feel suspicious about all this new stuff in Brawl? It seems too good to be true. Every character imaginable is in it, instant photo taking, a STAGE CREATOR? I'm getting a little scared that maybe it will be so good it's bad. I'm not saying it won't be great, but whoa.

The only thing I'm worried about is not finding any surprises when it comes out!

No offense, but I think this topic is lame and unneeded. Brawl is going to rock heavy and be awesome. I mean, come on. So good it's bad? Pshaw.

I quite agree with Rao. This is definitely going to be the game that I will never grow tired of playing. I may even take another crack at convincing my friends to put some money together and get a Wii for "the arcade," and Austin can take his GameCube home. I'd be perfectly happy taking the game disc back and forth.
Though it needs more Ness. I have days where I have complete confidence he's not leaving, and others when I'm not so sure...

I think Lucas is just Ness with blonde Elvis hair.

And, you know, less coolness. And less released-in-America-ness. I personally go by the rule to not use characters from games I've never played.
I hypothesized Lucas grows up to be Larry Butz, and then I discovered his secret past as a Candy Land kid.

No, no, Brawl is just going to be super awesome.

I'm just hoping people don't dedicate their entire lives to the game for months on end.

I kind of think Corleone has a point: what if SSBB is too awesome? So awesome that it's bad?

I couldn't care less if the game has Wifi (no internet at my apatment anyway), but I just hope Toad is playable (they've got PT for crying out loud! He isn't really a character, but rather directs thee different characters!)

Spoilers marked for those who may not know/want to know.

EDIT: Sorry Chup.

EDIT2: Misspelled couldn't. -_-;;

This is getting really ridiculous.

The phrase is "couldn't care less", people! I have had to put up with the annoying improper illogical "could care less" twice already in Mega Man ZX Advent.

I can honestly say it isn't living up to be as awesome as I'd thought it would be.

Case in point: Samurai Goroh, Lyn and Little Mac were all relegated to Assist Trophy status. Also, lots of the stages seem to be simply platforms with a nice background. New Pork City is a huge disappointment compared to Hyrule Temple.

Like it matters...

Yes it does. The two phrases have completly opposite meanings.

"I couldn't care less" = "I care so little that it would be impossible for me to care any less."
"I could care less" = "I will not define exactly how much I care but you know I at least care a little."
So, yeah, it does matter, even though we knew what was meant.

As I think I said before, the only thing I think I'm really worried about is that it'll be so good, they won't be able to top it. That's the problem with the Wii; the only games that don't suck are usually so good, there's nowhere to go but down.

People freak out about grammar way too much. I'm not saying that it's okay to have poor grammar, though there's no reason people should freak out about it, 'cause it's just as easy to say "please fix your grammar" as it is to say "It is so annoying and I am so sick of it". Because no one really likes to put up with whining anymore than they like to put up with bad grammar.

Anyway, I think Brawl will be awesome, but to say that this topic is pointless is jumping the gun a bit. It is 100% possible that Brawl will not live up to  it's name, just like it was 100% possible Sonic would be in it (and trust me, many said that it wasn't going to happen but it did anyway).

Wasn't it the same with Melee?

Hardly! No online play, no stage-editing, no Sonic (I don't really like him but I know many others do), no music customization... there was plenty of improvement to be had! I say it's better graphics and more questionable characters from here on out.

But did you even think of all that stuff? Did you look at Melee when it was in production and say "This game needs a stage editor, music customization and online play which at this time period would be pretty bad"?

Also, lots of the stages seem to be simply platforms with a nice background.
They seem to be, but many actually aren't.  For example, Delfino Plaza, which many thought was just a battlefield stage with various Mario Sunshine backgrounds actually turned out to have a different stage setup for each location.  The same is true for many of the other levels, such as Castle Seige... platforms appear and disappear fairly frequently.

Well, I think it's pretty safe to say that online play was considered, at least.

it's just as easy to say "please fix your grammar"
Except there's a problem when people don't even know they're saying something completely opposite from what they mean!

The worse that could happen is Brawl only having 25 characters.

Hah! And already have twenty-three supposedly available from the start (you wouldn't expect the demo at E for All to have everyone you have at the beginning, would you).

Sorry Chup.... you know for a fact that not everyone on here, and definitely not everyone outside of this forum will get/care about/understand the "could care, couldn't care" phrase... it kinda bothers me too depending on if a person is trying to be cocky and says it wrong because it makes him/her look stupid. ahaha

It's awesome when someone screws up an insult and says the opposite of what they were trying to say to you. Once in the sixth grade I was told, "Your brain is the size of a hammerhead shark."

It was obvious he meant "Your brain is the size of a hammerhead shark's." They're pretty small, right?
But yep, that's the most epic example of a messed-up insult.

Well maybe they showed the secret characters on the website. They did that with Melee, didn't they?
I wish the Melee site was still up...

Yes, they did.
