Title: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: silverstarman on November 25, 2007, 05:14:02 PM
You know what I think. I think Nintendo should make a Mario fighting game, something in the veins of Virtua Fighter, except give it the Sonic Championship treatment and make it kid friendly so younger mario fans can play it.

Or you could just play as the Mario characters in SSB and save us from another useless spinoff.

But if there had to be one in existence, it should be similar to Pocket Fighter if it were based on the traditional arcade fighter, or if they wanted it to be 3D, base it on Power Stone. Those are the only two ways I can see it working.

I meant one where you keep attacking people until their vitality is gone. And a 3D one IS possible, i.e. you fight in an arena like Virtua Fighter or Tekken. They did it with Sonic, why not Mario?

Kinda, but you have the health BAR, the timer, and the wins at top. I mean, EXACTLY like Virtua Fighter.

Do I need to say that there was a pirated game for the NES called Kart Fighter?

Oh dear...

That's a pirate, it doesn't count. I mean a REAL GAME.

ChuppersonWeird: I mean, Virtua Fighter, with Mario characters, music, stages, and attacks.

I wouldn't mind a game like that. Smash Bros. is okay and all, but its just not the same as a normal fighting game. I kind of like normal fighting games better.

Also, Smash Bros.' camera is so annoying. Everytime somebody gets hit (which is usually 99% of the time) the camera shakes up and down like crazy. Playing even for just a few minutes makes me dizzy.  :(
I don't remember that being an issue in other games.

Wht don't you people get about A REAALLL Virtua Fighter style fighting game. In smash bros, your purpose is to keep hitting people until they fall off of the stage. In any normal fighting game, you keep using bevys of combos and simple attacks until their health bar is empty.

How would that fit with Mario characters in any way?
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game

Seriously, no. Why is it so important to have a Mario fighting game? Play Virtua Fighter. It's the same game but with different characters and music.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: silverstarman on November 26, 2007, 05:45:04 PM
Corleone: It's not important,I thought it would just be a good spinoff, and a game that kids can enjoy.

Chupperson Weird: Look at some images and videos of Sonic the Fighters. 2 complaints in this post are

                  1. It's the same as Virtua Fighter with real life events.
                     - Sonic the fighters was made to be exactly like fighting vipers, and SEGA had no
                       problem making it.

                  2. This can't work because Mario is kid friendly.
                     - Once again, watch Sonic the Fighters. Sega managed to make it non-violent in a
way that Nintendo can do with this as well.

Here's a way to play a Mario Fighting Game in Super Smash Bros. Melee!

1.) Okay, start up the game and go to Melee.
2.) Go to special Melee and click on "Stamina Mode".
3.) Now, there are 6 Mario characters to chose from; Mario, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and Bowser.
4.) You can choose up to 4 players. Once you're ready, select a stage and fight to your heart's content!

So? You play as Mario (and others) and you fight. There should be nothing more.

Wow, you guys are really acting like a bunch of jack***es. I to would like an actual Mario fighting game, but 3D? Make it more like Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and then you've got yourself a deal.

goodie: I can't believe no one noticed your post, that's EXACTLY what I meant by an actual fighting game, but they STILL can't figure out what a real fighting game is.

Iron Man: OMG you're my hero! But, the only problem is that 2D fighting games are becoming obsolete :(

And to those who keep going on about "stamina" mode, it's still not the same thing, because the ideal way to kill someone is STILL by knocking them off of the stage, even in this mode, and, once again, it's SMASH BROS!!! That's just a sloppy excuse to want to play a Mario fighting game.

You could use the stage designer to make a large rectangle of walls, making a normal KO impossible.

Nintendo won't waste time and money on a worthless fighting game when there is already a Nintendo fighting game out.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game

What don't you understand! Smash Bros. IS NOT an official Mario game. Just because Mario characters are in it doesn't neccesarily make it a Mario game. And what makes you think it will be wothless? Oh yeah, once again, Smah Bros. is not the kind of fighting game I'm talking about!
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game

If you want to play as Mario characters in a fighter that is not like Smash Bros so badly, download MUGEN!  We don't want an official Mario Fighting Game when we have Smash Bros.  That and Mario has enough spin-offs as it is.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: Corleone on November 27, 2007, 06:47:10 PM
Believe it or not, it costs money to make games. There is a Nintendo fighting game out, and that should be a good substitute for a Mario fighting game. They don't need one. Nobody wants one; they're satisfied with Smash, which is not a Mario fighting game, but it is a Nintendo fighting game with Mario characters which is good enough.

Ok, #1: http://dictionary.reference.com/ (http://dictionary.reference.com/)
#2: If it's an official Nintendo fighting game with many Mario characters, then what's wrong with that? You can even fight other, non-Mario characters! I like the stamina system better then most other fighting games! There's even a mode where YOU get what you want! So quit complianing and go play Melee.

P.S.Are you allowed to post a link to MUGEN? If so, please do.

#2. I did not say anything about a NINTENDO fighting game. I specifically said a MARIO fighting game. Watch a video of Tekken or Virtua Fighter, and picture it with Mario characters, stages, music, etc. That's kinda what I'm talking about here.

1. Fighters already exist that have everything you want except Mario characters.
2. Why have Mario characters in a standard fighting game?
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game

2. Tell that to little kids who aren't old enough to play a normal fighting game.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: YoshifanDS on November 28, 2007, 02:28:58 PM
There will probably not be a Mario fighting game for two main reasons:

1. Super Smash Bros. is practically a Mario fighting game.  I know it isn't like Tekken or Street Fighter, but it is still considered to be a fighting game.

2. Nintendo wouldn't make a game because it would get an E10+ rating or higher simply because it's a fighting game.  The Mario games aren't focused on fighting, and it would give the Mario franscise a "bad" view from Nintendo.

If people aren't old enough to play real fighting games, boo-hoo. There are games meant for older kids. The Smash Bros. series is the closest you can get to a Mario fighter that is and ever will be kid-friendly.

Sorry but that would be dumb... We don't need a Mario fighter game and I dont think Nintendo ever will make a Mario fighter game like that. So go play Super Smash bro's it's funner and it's better.

Also just asking have you ever even played a Super Smash Bro's game before?
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: silverstarman on November 28, 2007, 07:17:55 PM
I've played, I own (and I've beaten) both smash bros. games, and I love them both. But I like REAL fighting as well. So I'm beggining to think that you guys can't take any air from a REAL fighting game because of an over obsession of Smash Bros. I just have a hard time thinking that Smash Bros. is a fighting game. Yeah, you kick and punch, but when was the last time you've played a fighting game where you throw fire, uppercut, throw bombs, and even thrown pills at your oppenents. And the premise of a fighting game is NOT by knocking your opponent off the stage to win. I love Smash Bros., just not as a fighting game.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: Chupperson Weird on November 28, 2007, 07:29:22 PM
So why don't you play the ones that exist and not worry about putting Mario characters in a game where they don't fit?

Okay... Stamina Mode? Also, I recall you saying you liked the idea of knocking people off the screen. There are fighters out there.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: silverstarman on November 29, 2007, 06:26:59 PM
I never said I liked the idea of of throwing your opponent off to win in a fighting game! One other thing, in smash bros. the stages allow you to run around in large open spaces with cliffs, but the stages in a normal fighting game are actually (SUPRISE!) arenas, keeping space limited. That TOTALLY keeps the ideal of smash bros. from a fighting game.
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: Corleone on November 29, 2007, 06:42:36 PM
Smash Bros. is a fighting game, but not the same as the others. In fact, it's one of the only original fighting games that aren't the same as every other dang fighting game out there. Play Kart Fighter of MUGEN if you want a "real" Mario fighting game. That's the closest Nintendo will want to go, because why make a Mario fighting game where there already is one where you can control all the major Mario characters plus 2 minor ones?
Title: Re: Mario Fighting Game
Post by: silverstarman on November 30, 2007, 07:17:16 PM
1. Kart Fighter is a pirated game, it doesn't count.

2. Mugen is free downloadable software where you make the characters. So it's unnoficial.

I just want it to be two things

-Origianl as a fighting game.

-Official and Licensed by Nintendo.

The way you want it doesn't make it sound original. In fact, it sounds like Virtua Fighter with Mario characters, so it CAN'T be original because it's just the same as the majority of the fighters out there.

I put up a link a few posts up. Watch that. Sonic the Fighters was made to be like fighting vipers. And it doesnt have to be EXACTLY like virtua fighter, I just used that as an example of an original fighter.
