Corleone: It's not important,I thought it would just be a good spinoff, and a game that kids can enjoy.

Chupperson Weird: Look at some images and videos of Sonic the Fighters. 2 complaints in this post are

                  1. It's the same as Virtua Fighter with real life events.
                     - Sonic the fighters was made to be exactly like fighting vipers, and SEGA had no
                       problem making it.

                  2. This can't work because Mario is kid friendly.
                     - Once again, watch Sonic the Fighters. Sega managed to make it non-violent in a
way that Nintendo can do with this as well.

Here's a way to play a Mario Fighting Game in Super Smash Bros. Melee!

1.) Okay, start up the game and go to Melee.
2.) Go to special Melee and click on "Stamina Mode".
3.) Now, there are 6 Mario characters to chose from; Mario, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and Bowser.
4.) You can choose up to 4 players. Once you're ready, select a stage and fight to your heart's content!

But do we really need to rely on a game that's not even a full mario game.

So? You play as Mario (and others) and you fight. There should be nothing more.

Wow, you guys are really acting like a bunch of jack***es. I to would like an actual Mario fighting game, but 3D? Make it more like Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and then you've got yourself a deal.

goodie: I can't believe no one noticed your post, that's EXACTLY what I meant by an actual fighting game, but they STILL can't figure out what a real fighting game is.

Iron Man: OMG you're my hero! But, the only problem is that 2D fighting games are becoming obsolete :(

And to those who keep going on about "stamina" mode, it's still not the same thing, because the ideal way to kill someone is STILL by knocking them off of the stage, even in this mode, and, once again, it's SMASH BROS!!! That's just a sloppy excuse to want to play a Mario fighting game.

You could use the stage designer to make a large rectangle of walls, making a normal KO impossible.

My friends and I teamed up to make Luigi and Geno (as best we could) in SoulCaliber 3, and that was nifty.

SSBM has a stage designer? I must look into this...

Yeah, I don't know why people don't like these idea threads. Sure it'll never happen, but it doesn't hurt to talk about what you'd like to see.

Nintendo won't waste time and money on a worthless fighting game when there is already a Nintendo fighting game out.

What don't you understand! Smash Bros. IS NOT an official Mario game. Just because Mario characters are in it doesn't neccesarily make it a Mario game. And what makes you think it will be wothless? Oh yeah, once again, Smah Bros. is not the kind of fighting game I'm talking about!

If you want to play as Mario characters in a fighter that is not like Smash Bros so badly, download MUGEN!  We don't want an official Mario Fighting Game when we have Smash Bros.  That and Mario has enough spin-offs as it is.
