The video games are getting more graphical in the sense that they have better pixels than 20 years ago. This brings up the question should Mario wear overalls in future videogames or should he have a more colorful variety and choice in his wardrobe. Please pick one and feel free to comment.
-
I thought that this was going to involve some sort of nudity. I'm glad it didn't.
-
Well-known and globally recognized mascots generally don't change the clothing scheme they've had for 25 years.
-
Yeah, actually I'd have a hard time looking at Mario with other clothes on. (Please no "Super Mario Strikers" comments, those clothes aren't really that different.)
-
Keep the overalls! It's one of the things that makes Mario... well... Mario.
-
Or give him another snazzy Sunshine shirt
-
Mario without overalls is like a wedding without the mambo.
-
I think it would be neat to see Mario in something besides his traditional dress. I don't mean a "closet" feature where Mario can choose between 50 different outfits, but a different costume he wears the whole time that has something to do with the game's plot. Like the white coat and stethoscope he wears in Dr. Mario.
-
Or they could do something similar to the Link running around in his pajamas deal from TWW.
-
I'd like to see Mario wear a cape, or maybe a racoon costum.
-
Actually maybe they could try dressing him up as a country singer. I kinda like that idea.
-
I can't imagine mario wearing anything other than his usual threads.
-
Coming soon from the makers of Mario Party and Pokemon Channel:
Mario Dress-up
It's the newest title in Nintendo's non-game line-up for non-gamers.

It's probably already been done hundreds of times on NewGrounds/DeviantArt.
-
Yes, I did see that on Newgrounds, it looked like you could take off the censor ......... ew.
-
Keep the overalls, lose the beer belly.
-
He should wear overalls, overall.
-
Keep the overalls, lose the beer belly.
Nah, being fat is also what makes him Mario. Keep everything.
-
Overalls are part of Mario's style. You can't ditch that anymore.
That said, I'd like to see a return to the Smash Bros. Melee Mario, where Mario was actually thinner for once. Same with Bowser. Those two are getting a bit too round and stale in their latest incarnations, you just don't see them change appearance much anymore. The Smash Bros. Melee versions had some subtle variations that went a long way.
Actually, I wish all the characters in Smash Bros. Melee stayed with that look for their later respective games. I look at the Smash Bros. Melee version of Falco, I look at all the other incarnations of Falco, and just marvel at the huge difference in quality. Falco has and may always look his best in SSBM. Unless Smash Bros. for Revolution rounds him out even more.
-
The only thing that I can recall as wrong was than in MKDD, Mario's clothes were unnaturally shiny. Clothes are not shiny. Everything should be as it is in SSBM. All the characters looked perfect.
-
EVERYTHING in MK:DD was shiny. Bowser was shiny. The dirt roads were practically shiny. That's my only concern about the graphics in that game, some things were too bright or shiny. I guess I don't really care, but when you think about it, it is too unnatural.
-
Overrallls!!! Always because he looks great with them.
-
I think Mario should keep his overalls, but only because that's the way it's been ever since the dawn of time. If Mario does change clothes, it should be for a special, temporary purpose, like getting a new power or whatever.
-
Mario should keep his overalls. Without them, he just wouldnt be the same plumber we know and love. If he does loose them, it would only be for a power (like the suits in SMB3)
-
Mario should get mondo ripped and become a super star athelete. No t-shirt. Just muscle! Okay, he should stay the same. Mario is Mario when he's in his get-up.
-
Why don't they try making Mario change into his tuxedo and top hat when he goes to one of those parties at Peach's castle or some other formal event. It would be pretty cool to see Mario fight Bowser in a formal outfit.
-
On the All-Stars game cover it shows Mario in a tux with the hat and cane.
Yet he was still wearing overalls!
EVEN IN A CLASSY SUIT HE CAN PULL OFF HIS OVERALL LOOK!
ALL HAIL MARIO AND HIS LACK OF GIVING IN AND CHANGING HIS OUTFIT!!!!!
-
Actually, when you compare official art of the older games with the GCN game 3D models of Mario. I think he's lost a little bit of weight. I guess those adventures of rescuing princesses are helping afterall. I think Luigi has been becoming a little less bashful over the years.
On topic, Mario fighting Bowser in a formal outfit actually sounds really cool. The Koopa King crashes Mario and Peach's wedding, and kidnaps the bride (yet again). The groom sets off with his best man, Luigi to save Peach. The maid of honor, Daisy might help out too.
-
Mario and overalls go together, why get rid of them. That would be wrong, like totally wrong!
-
Kojinka, that sounds so cool, Mario fighting in a tux. But Peach is not his. Anyways I think Mario would look wierd without his overalls.
-
Why would he stop wearing overalls? Mario and overalls just seem to go together.
-
This doesn't even LOOK like Mario!
-
EEEK! That's not right. All of his pot belly would be hanging without his overalls. *thanks God for Mario's overalls*
-
This doesn't even LOOK like Mario!
Sure it does. It just doesn't look like the Mario we know and love.
-
Well the face does, but without the overalls, he's just a giant ball of stuff that's not the real Mario. I think it looks like Mario, I don't think it looks right.
-
Ok, how about this?
-
Ok, how about this?
Oh heck no. You went toooo far.
-
That looks like some crappy knock off from the early 90's. Grrrr, I know his name, I just don't remember right now.......
-
It almost looks like Stanley the Bugman.
-
It looks like one of those characters from a little kids cartoon thing. Like the ones on Nick Jr. or something.
-
It's Rob the Guilder! (Sure...)
Yeah... I got a little carried away. Mario just wouldn't be Mario if he didn't look like an average person, but with superhuman abilities.
-
Exactly! Shame on the people who said no *scolds whoever said no*.
-
Actually, the guy in blue, if you put a 'P' on the hat, get the brown hair back, recolor the pants to a denim blue, and slim him down, he'd look kind of like Tashio.
-
Why not? I can picture Red "M" wearing pants or shorts with his sweater. Maybe even a jacket. Why I could picture him wearing only pants and having muscles. Then again if Red "M" does wear pants, they might fall down a little like all plumbers.
-
Mario could be better without the overalls.
Imagine him, wearing cool astronaut clothes on the moon shooting down space-koops.
*Drools*
-
Oh, Mario in a trench coat! I think that might look sorta cool.
-
I love trench coats. Mario might actually look pretty cool in one of those, but he must still have the overalls underneath. As for the no shirt, no, nooooonononono! o.O It's a family oriented series for crying out loud! And we don't need any cracks showing either. o.O Wait, the butt crack wasn't mentioned, BUT STILL!! We don't need it!

I did kind of mention it.
-
Yeah, but did you mention a shirtless Mario with a potbelly? o.O ew Even if he had a belt, his pants would still probably fall a little, and we don't need that. As pointed out before, he needs the beer belly or else he wouldn't be the Mario we know and love. Overalls stay.
-
How about this?
-
Hmmmm... Interesting. He almost looks like a Blues Brother. That's actually kind of cool.
-
I agree with YES. Mario just wouldn't be the same without his overalls, same with any other piece of clothing he orignally had. Mario just wouldn't be Mario without them. Period.
-
He could dress like M. Bison from Street Fighter.
-
If he dressed like Blade or Neo all the worlds video games will bow down before him.
-
Aw man! He'd look so kick butt in the Neo trenchcoat and sunglasses! :P
-
Here. No overalls.
-
Top picture: Mario should totally wear a tux to Peach's parties.
Bottom Picture: Mario has mucles!
-
In a tux with a top hat and cane.

And he still has overalls!
-
I voted yes. Mario should change his outfit occasionally, but not too often. :D
-
What can we say? Mario looks good in overalls.
-
YA RLY. It wouldn't be right without them. He just wouldn't be Mario. That's one way I notice him, besides the RED color.
-
I always thought Mario would look cool with a cloak, but he'd have to be wearing his overalls with it.
-
If they took away Mario's overalls, how could he still be a plumbers?
I say he should be buried in those old blue overalls.
-
as i saaid before mario is the symbol of gameing they remove the overalls they re,ove the title
