Why would he stop wearing overalls? Mario and overalls just seem to go together.

EEEK! That's not right. All of his pot belly would be hanging without his overalls. *thanks God for Mario's overalls*

Sure it does.  It just doesn't look like the Mario we know and love.

Well the face does, but without the overalls, he's just a giant ball of stuff that's not the real Mario.  I think it looks like Mario, I don't think it looks right.

It looks like one of those characters from a little kids cartoon thing.  Like the ones on Nick Jr. or something.

It's Rob the Guilder! (Sure...)
Yeah... I got a little carried away. Mario just wouldn't be Mario if he didn't look like an average person, but with superhuman abilities.

Actually, the guy in blue, if you put a 'P' on the hat, get the brown hair back, recolor the pants to a denim blue, and slim him down, he'd look kind of like Tashio.

Why not? I can picture Red "M" wearing pants or shorts with his sweater. Maybe even a jacket. Why I could picture him wearing only pants and having muscles. Then again if Red "M" does wear pants, they might fall down a little like all plumbers.

Mario could be better without the overalls.
Imagine him, wearing cool astronaut clothes on the moon shooting down space-koops.
