Mario Chat / Mario Tennis final roster

Hope you guys like this...

Gamefan.com has posted the list of all FOURTEEN characters!  Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Yoshi, Wario, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Daisy, Baby Mari, Waluigi, Birdo, Koopa, and Boo will all be hitting the courts.  What's really interesting is that Gamefan.com is asking Mario fans to write to this email address:

<rmears@gamefan.com>

and submitting your ideas for which classic Mario characters should be in the next Mario sports game, and which sport they should be playing.  Make your voice heard!

From screenshots, we can gather that Peach, a Goomba, a Koopa Troopa, and a pink Bob-Omb are all playable (or at least join the party) in the new Mario RPG.  But who wou _YOU_ like to see in the new game?  Just wondering what you all think...

EVeryone else makes up these cool polls, so I'm gonna do one too.  Who's the best boss in a Mario game?  Were you blown away by Mouser?  Impressed by the Whomp King?  Captivated by Captain Syrup?

I gotta go with the Big Boo... Anyone else?

Does anyone know if any Mario characters are drawn from Japanese folklore or mythology?  I've never really thought about it but I enjoy this stuff like you wouldn't believe...  I know Tanuki are the raccoon spirits, but are there any others?

You know what would be awesome on a Mario All-Stars DX game for GBC?  Seeing the Mario Land games realized in full color with improved backgrounds like SNES All-Stars.  That means:

Super Mario Land
Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
Wario Land 2
Wario Land 3

Now THAT would be cool...

I was thinking about Mario folk who have different names in America and Japan.  Here's what I came up with:

Bowser      Koopa
Toadstool   Peach (although this one eventually got rectified)
Toad      Kinopio
Koopa Troopa   Noko Noko
Kamek      Turtle
Shyguy      Ho He
Smithy      Kajidoh
Booster      Bukki
Valentina   Margarita (I gather this one because the Japanese OST to SMRPG  lists Valentina's theme as "Marjorie Margarita")

Are there any you smart guys could come up with?

Mario Chat / Who deserves their own game most?

While Wario and Yoshi got their own series, the rest of the crew has been pretty much ignored.  Who do you think should get their own little twist on the Mario formula?  My choice is Bowser.  He's been around long enough and he's pretty cool.  Plus, in a Mario 64 environment, Bowser could pull of some awesome moves.  Anyone else?

Do any of you folk know if Doki Doki Panic was developed by Miyamoto?  If not, the why do so many Doki Doki characters show up in later Mario games: Shyguy, Bob-Omb, Pokey, Birdo, et al.?  Just a random thought...

something that really bothers me is the way most mario games like mario kart, mario party, mario golf, etc. are set around the same eight characters: mario, luigi, toad, peach, donkey kong, wario, and bowser.  wouldn't it be awesome to have some of the MANY faces from the mario universe show up in the next Mario Kart?  Who wouldn't want to see Geno paste Pauline with a red shell?

Mario Chat / all about booster

i didn't know that the super mario rpg crew was lost when square left nintendo.  that makes me quite sad because booster was such an awesome character, even though he was a tad warioesque in appearance.  He even had cool sidekicks in the Snifits and his crazy girlfriend Valentina.  They could have made a fine game around these guys...
