Mario Chat / Re: SMB World 8-5

Not entirely. Only most of them. Sometimes, you can end up in rooms that were never meant to be in the actual data, and endlessly fall to your doom. There was a world like this when I did "The True Lost Levels"... yes, here is the "Death Room" world I encountered:

[W14-1] World 14-1 (E-1): Who knows? - Pit of death with a koopa pal, ? block, and the castle music. Can't really tell how stable it is because it is over it 2 seconds. Avoid this if you know what is best for you.

Here is the overworld 3-4 I encountered:

[W20-1] World 20-1 (K-1): VERY UNSTABLE - An overworld version of 3-4. Too bad it isn't stable...

And here is 9-1 and clones, for the heck of it:

[W9-1] World 9-1 (9-1): VERY UNSTABLE - A water version of 6-2, which tends to freeze often. Sometimes random platforms fill the area. Takes longer to freeze if you move less. Never finished this one, never will.
[W49-1] World 49-1 ((triangle sliver)-1): VERY UNSTABLE - Just like World 9-1. Avoid it. Now.

"That level in Super Mario Brothers 3, Iced Land (level 5, maybe?) where you have to fly up a narrow tower carrying a shell so you can break through blocks and get to the pipe. To date I have never beaten that level without P-Wings."

I am pretty sure that is World 7-2... yeah, it was pretty frustrating.

Other Frustrations:
SM64 - Not the bullies in Lethal Lava Land themselves, but that one star "Bully the Bullies". Urg, that took me so long to complete that I had 4 out of the 5 other stars there done when I got it... the sixth star is also frustrating.

SMB - The end of World 8-2, where you had to get on one small block at the very edge, start running, and hopefully make it across to the other one so you can jump. I died so many times doing that...

An easy way to do it:

- Go to 1-4 (I actually did it at 4-4)
- Use the cheat, and enter "8"
- Die
- You should appear at 6-2 instead of 8-4.
- Beat it and...

Yeah.

Heh, nice.

Sometimes I hate it when I make a fan game, and then find out that a company is making a game that has almost the exact same name.

Tubular... urg, I could never get the hang of that... I always had my sister help me with it, but she liked that level so she was happy XD

Outragous... that was the forest one with the fire, right?

Oh yeah, I used to hate 8-2 and 8-3 in SMB. Then I beat them both and I hated 8-4 for like a couple minutes, and I beat that (on my first try if I am not mistaken). I had to take a leap of faith twice in that level... the Hammer Bro, and then Bowser. Yes, I jumped OVER Bowser at the end, as a small Mario. I was SO lucky I beat it... but that was a long time ago, so :P

Heh, kind of reminds me of a text file I did on the "True Lost Levels" of SMB1, where I took three GG codes, modded one, and visited worlds 9 up to 50. Pretty cool, and one of them was an overworld version of a castle (3-4 I think), a quite unstable level. It was hard to get past the first few platforms (usually there are fire things there; the only enemies were randomly placed koopas) because the game would jerk (the status bar on the top would go half or more off of the screen, to the left), and then freeze up. Quite curious, and one of the few unstable areas (9-1, that level, and another one exactly like 9-1). I will try to find that sometime, when I go download the MAME rom for it XD

EDIT: And screenshots, please ^.^!

Thank you!

Ah, it is about time for an update. I have the room for Phases 6-10 finished, but I need to finish a new enemy. Sidecrawlers are not introduced until the end of Chapter 2, if you were wondering. Here is the enemy chart (fireballs and freezies have not been placed yet):

SHELLCREEPER:
FIRST PHASE: Prolouge (Phase 0)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 30)
NOTES: Does not appear in Phases 16-25, they reappear in Chapter 4 and continue until Chapter 5

BOO:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 1 (Phase 6)
LAST PHASE: Undetermined
NOTES: Only appears where herded or ghost houses.

HYPNOTIZED RETAINER:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 16)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 25)
NOTES: This is a good clue to the mystery boss #1.

SIDECRAWLER:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 26)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 30)
NOTES: They reappear in Chapter 4 and continue until the end of Chapter 5

FIGHTER FLY:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 26)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 2 (Phase 30)
NOTES: They reappear in Chapter 4 and continue until the end of Chapter 5

KOOPA TROOPA:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 31)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 35)
NOTES: Clue to another mystery boss. Are almost exactly like Shellcreepers.

HAMMER BROS:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 31)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 35)
Notes: If you cannot guess the second mystery boss by now you are a sad, sad person. Also, never let them get mad or you will be sorry...

MOBILE PIRAHNA PLANT INFANTRY:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 31)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 44)
NOTES: Being so crafty, they survive your raid on ?????'s castle, but you beat the snot out of them all before you reach the bar. Wow, all in a day's work.

BOM-OMBS:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 31)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 5  (Phase 75)
NOTES: They survive your rampage. Or someone else has access to them. Hmm. They don't appear in Phase 45 because bars in the Mushroom Kingdom don't serve their kind.

DRUNK RETAINER:
FIRST/LAST PHASE: Chapter 3 (Phase 45)
NOTES: Loves barfights, and will gladly pull anyone into them. Kick the snot out of them before they go sober and leave, because they have some nice cash...

REBEL RETAINER:
FIRST PHASE: Chapter 4 (Phase 46)
LAST PHASE: Chapter 4 (Phase 60)
NOTES: Kick their behinds before they get up and use their Kalashnikovs. Ouch.

ARCH0WL CLONE:
FIRST/LAST PHASE: Chapter 4 (Phase 60 Bossfight)
NOTES: If they touch you you become one of them, but you still are reborn on top of the POW block (like always). Beat all 100+ of them by jumping on the top of them (they attack you as balls, but only 4 attack at a time, plus the real one who will not die until the others do).

QUOTE: And no offense to those who like Pokemon, but they just got old. I don't like em that much at all. The blue and red games are decent, but not that wonderful. Any games that are made based on a T.V cartoon show suck too. Still thinking, there are a ton of them.

The TV show was based off of the games.

I hate Final Fantasy 9 and Chrono Cross. Chrono Cross traded character quality for character quantity, and FF9 was plain annoying.

QUOTE: 3.Games that people like if they hate even 1 Mario game.

So, if I said that I like every game in the world EXCEPT for Super Mario Sunshine, you would hate every game in the world except Super Mario Sunshine, including all other Mario games?

I can't think of any games that I dislike off of the top of my head.

Uh... that was me :)

GLORB: Heh, the funny part is that Mario is about the only person that uses dirty words in the whole game (except for The Ying Yang Twins and Luigi (occasionally)).

Yeah, two of the major bugs I am trying to get rid of are the overlaping enemies bug and the stick-to-the-ledge bug. They are the most reported bugs at the other site I go to (other than the "farting Mario bug", where if you press and hold one button, wait a bit, and press and hold the other, he will skid until you release the keys. Yes, someone called it that once). And this Arch0wl is a real person. I dislike him. BulletBill is on of his kiss-ups. His site was www.arch0wl.com (he gave it to a friend of mine, left, then came back and wanted it back but he was modded instead. Spectere's worst decision in my opinion). It is down at the moment, and I feel that it deserves to be because all of his dumb followers and himself that hang out there.

Anyway I haven't progressed much because I got this model of the fascinating SR-71 a few days ago and have been building it.

PS: If you knew how many times I have failed trying to fix that shellcreeper glitch your jaw would drop :)

TEH EDIT: I think I found a way to fix the shellcreepers getting stuck into each other, while looking at CashCrazed's game. While playing his game I noticed that whenever that happens they seem to pop out of each other. Mine does something not unlike that now too, but nowhere near as effective. They can still get stuck in each other in other ways, like popping out of shells into each other, but most of the problem is fixed. BTW this took me like 10 minutes to think of and put in, most of it being testing time before I finished copying blocks. I feel like a total idiot now for not figuring this out before XD

There are two separated blocks. Stand on the very tip of the first one, run, and if you were far enough on the tip, you will run over the little pit, and get enough speed to jump over the pit. That will be $5 sir (just kidding lol).

The Napalm Launcher from Blood is my favorite weapon. Get a room of zombies, launch a special attack, and shut the door, wait a few seconds, and when you open in you will be treated to a nice red floor :)

PS stand next to a wall and try that ;)
