No offense, but screech is right, that is really annoying. Plus, you're not making a very good Mario. I don't think anyone should try to be Mario anyways, since those are some big shoes to fill. I'm sure there are a lot of people who know about different Mario things, but nobody knows everything.

Plus, you copied my nickname! *runs off crying* "I need mushrooms!!!"

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Vocal Songs
« on: March 12, 2002, 06:45:37 PM »
I agree with that, to an extent. If they actually started incorporating actual songs into a Nintendo storyline, I'd shoot myself. But Peach singing would just... make me tingle deep down inside ^_^;;.

There were parts in Paper Mario where they could've sung too, like when Peach is on the balcony wondering how Mario is doing, that would have been good.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Party 4

Thanks for the great replies. I like the characters too, but there's a little too much "plumber" sometimes. It's not that I dislike Waluigi or Wario, but I think four guys who look really similiar can get old. I like diversity in the characters. It makes it more interesting, to me.

I don't know when Mario Party 4 is going to be released or much on it. I'm as much in the dark as you are. As for MP3's voices, I agree whole-heartedly. My brother and I are Mario and Luigi fans (huge 'ens!), and he likes Luigi and I like Mario. When I heard Mario's voice, I said, "Wow, that's pretty good", but Luigi's was just awful. I couldn't stop making fun of his "Good choice" line.

That reminds me, ... MAKE THEM SAY DIFFERENT STUFF! "I got it", "I'm the best" "Good choice!" gets soooooo old!

Anyways, that's my two cents. Er, more like ten cents, maybe.

Bumper Balls forever!!! (Because we have mapped out strategies and techniques for it in the back of our MP instruction manual!)

Hmm. I own an SNES, an N64, and a GCN. I also own the original GameBoy and a GameBoy Color. I used to own a Nintendo, but we gave it away a long time ago, which I regret, since we had SMB.

Ah, come on now. Why do you guys always get like that? "I hate XBox" here, and "Down with Sony!" there. I mean, what's the big deal? What did they do to you? It'd be boring if only Nintendo existed anyways, 'cause then you'd have nothing to compare their superiority to, right?

Anyways, come to my place at 8-10 Pm for Pasta. Lots of pasta. Mm'kay?

... Mama mia. It's called "Super Mario Advance" because Mario and Luigi's last name is Mario. Also "Super Mario" is recognizable because of "Super Mario Bros." (Mario, as in their last name.)

Luigi only plays second fiddle to those in the back row, that can't see the stage well.

Uh, well. I beat 20 guys (total) in cruel melee just to test this, and it didn't work. I can get up to 6 as Kirby, but that's about it. It might be cool if Sonic and Tails were in SSBM, since Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is really fun, or something, but it's better that they aren't. They wouldn't fit in. They'd have none of their own items, no stages, nothin'. So, uh, yeah.

Now, now, then. I don't understand you "hardcore" Luigi fans. My brother is probably the biggest Luigi fan any of you will meet, and he doesn't have some sort of "Mario hatred" thing going on. It doesn't make sense to me. It's not Mario's fault, it's just that so many people know him.

Most people I meet who know anything about SMB and so on say they prefer Luigi over Mario. Most of their reasons are stupid (i.e., "Luigi's skinny!" or "Green is better than red!"), but that's how it is.

They put Luigi in pretty much every single Mario game except for Mario's "own" games. Think of it this way: Luigi wasn't in SM64, Paper Mario, or any of the Donkey Kong games (Which have Donkey Kong in the title anyways). Mario wasn't in Luigi's Mansion or Mario is Missing. There is no huge difference in their stardom. Personally, Luigi's Mansion is one of the greatest games I've ever played. It's fun, easy to play, and entertaining. It also has a good storyline and humor thrown in here and there. It's obvious Nintendo cares for Luigi's game-stardom and the quality of those games. Just try to look at the Bros. on an equal basis, aye? Mario gets his turn sometimes, and Luigi gets his. Then there's Smash Bros., Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, the Mario Party Series, Mario Karts, and so on, thrown in there to keep the storyline up while Mario and Luigi aren't currently on a "mission".

I'm not mad or anything, just wish people would take certain things to mind.

Oh, and what I'm really waiting for is a game with both Mario + Luigi!

Forum Games / Re: A sunny day in the Mushroom Kingdom
« on: December 22, 2001, 10:11:20 AM »
Ah, don't say that. I've been writing and role playing for different subjects for a long time. I've spent almost half of my life doing it. (That sounds weird, yeah, but I'm 14, so it isn't that hard to believe.)

Back to da story!

--

Luigi paced back and forth in front of the cell bars. It was daylight, but you could barely tell it. A few grates engraved into the high ceiling let in some sunlight, that only barely reached the edges of the two cells.

The larger cell was empty. Luigi guessed it was because, like Bow had said, Korpttia was making them all work to build whatever it was he had thought up.

"I get the feeling this guy just talks tough to everybody. If he almost got beat by Kirby, then there's no way he could beat all of us.", Link stated, sitting leisurely on the top bunk of the bunk-beds that were placed against the far-back wall.

"Maybe so...", muttered Luigi, still pacing.

"We have to think of a way out of here...", said Mario, a little anger rising in his voice.

"I have an idea...", Yoshi said slyly, calling the other four around him in a huddle.

Two Oktoroks, a few Matter Guys, and some Koopa Troopas paced the building, randomly passing the prisoner's cell.

"Alright, you two know what to do?", Yoshi was saying.

"Yep.", replied Mario and Luigi.

As a Koopa Troopa passed by their cell, Mario called out to him. "Hey, ugly! How about you stop walking by? You're making some of us feel sick."

The Koop Troopa looked towards Mario angrily, "Hey! I bet if you didn't have your four buddies there, you wouldn't be so tough!", and he yanked the cell door open, pulled Mario out, and shut it behind him.

"Wow, he's dumber than I thought. It didn't take much", laughed Luigi.

With a few quick punches and a final stomp, the Koopa Troop was stuffed into his shell. Mario flashed the V-sign quickly, and then turned to open the door of the cell.

Once they were outside, they were a bit stuck on what to do.

"Look! See there!", Luigi was pointing. "That's a camera, I can tell, it's been following the guards from time to time. If it spots us, an alarm will sound."

Kirby and Yoshi leaned against the cell for a moment, thinking.

"Hey, look up there!", said Link, quietly.

Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Kirby looked up towards the ceiling. About twenty yards above them was a small, three-foot groove in the ceiling. Through it ran chains, which passed from one side of the wall through the other. At random they carried materials unfamiliar to the four, probably being used to build Korpttia's... thing.

"If we could grab onto those, maybe we could get out of here.", Mario suggested.

"I can't even jump that high!", said Luigi, who could jump higher than Mario in most cases.

"I could fly.", said Kirby, kind of quietly.

"Why didn't you say that in the first place!?", Mario said, kind of irritated.

"The camera might see you if you do...", said Link, trying to be on the cautious side.

All of their items and weapons had been confiscated, but Link still had his Ocarina. He thought for a moment, then had an idea.

"I know!", Link said, gesturing towards the camera, "See those wires, there? I bet if they got wet the camera'd short out.", he said, triumphantly.

"Well, where do we get the water?", Yoshi asked.

"It's easy.", said Link.

Link brought his light blue Ocarina to his lips, closing his eyes to concentrate. After a few moments, he began to play a soft, but up beat tune, and after a few seconds it began to rain. Link had played the Song of Storms.

The rain splattered against the camera wires, causing it to buzz for a moment, and then spark. The red light in the corner of the lens faded off.

"Looks like it's dead...", Luigi said, matter-of-factly.

"Kirby, get up there before it gets turned back on... but... how are we going to get up there once you do?", Yoshi said.

"I've already figured that out!", Kirby said, jumping up and flying towards the chain above. It was slow going, but just before he ran out of air, he grasped onto the chain.

As the chain began to move, Kirby began to change.

As he formed into a stone, the weight of him pulled the chain down enough so that the other four had a place to grab on, which they did. As Kirby changed back, the chain lifted up and carried the four of them through the small hole in the other wall, just as the camera turned back on.

They came out in a dusty storage room.

"This might be where our stuff is.", Mario said to the others, as they dropped off of the chain.

After a few moments of searching, Link found his bombs, deku nuts, shield, sword, and bow and arrows.

Mario located his Wing Cap and Metal Cap, along with a few Super Shrooms and a Bob-omb.

Luigi grabbed ahold of a Shiny Shell, a Vanish Cap, and a Metal Cap as well, plus a bit of Honey Syrup incase they needed it.

Kirby placed his Fire, Ice, and Plasma hats somewhere within his versatile epidermus, along with a Maxim Tomato and the legendary Star Rod.

Yoshi got his bag of food and eggs, and placed it underneat the red half-shell on his back.

The five of them armed, and dangerous, they were a force to be reckoned with.

"I guess we get back on that chain?", Luigi asked, adjusting his green "L" cap.

"No, there's a door over there.", Mario said, pointing towards a dusty wooden portal, that no one had noticed at first.

"Okay, then.", Luigi said, and the five walked over to it...

Once outside, they were shocked at what they saw. They stood on a high catwalk, far above a factory setting. Molten-lava and sparks flew at random against cold metal sheets, meant for placement on the large ship-like thing in the center of the room.

The room was gigantic.

Mario spotted Peach, Bow, and Goombario working together to haul a large sheet of metal. A Koopa guard kicked Goombario onto his side, "Speed it up!", he snarled.

Mario almost leapt down to the Koopa guard, angry beyond belief, and would have if Luigi hadn't stopped him.

"Mario! It's no use! There's too many guards, you'd just be putting all of them in more danger...", he said, sighing.

"I've got an idea though.", Luigi said, grinning a little.

"I say with all this new stuff, we all attack and once and take out all those guards. I mean, who can stop all five of us??", Luigi finished.

"Good thinking.", said Link, pulling out his sword.

"Link, you stay here and shoot arrows. I'll use my Vanish Cap and sneak down. Yoshi, you stay here and be ready to provide us with food when we need it. Mario, get your metal cap, that way you can go through all those sparks and stuff without getting hurt. Kirby, use your Ice Hat and other powers to help us out. Everyone understand?" Luigi asked, nodding.

The floor shook like crazy as the metal figure of Mario landed, startling all of those around him.

Luigi stood behind a Koopa for a moment, waiting.

Kirby landed near Mario.

A fire arrow flew down and stuck the ground.

As the guards rushed in, many of them fell before they reached Mario. Luigi stomped and kicked and punched and lashed out with all that Luigi-anger, and the guards never knew what hit them. Once they were down, Kirby would freeze them in a block of ice.

Metal Mario shoulder ramming his way through about ten of them, sending them sprawling back onto a layer of ice which Kirby had created, so that they slid into a large pile of metal sheets, knocking them everywhere.

"What's going on in here!?", screamed Ganondorf, walking out onto the catwalk, just as Link shot an arrow down into the back of one of the Koopa guards.

Link turned towards him, standing still.

"WHAT!?", Ganondorf screamed...

He began to have flashbacks of his defeat by the Hyrulian hero... those same blue eyes that had been screaming at him as he was defeated were screaming at him now. Such a defeat had driven Ganondorf almost insane, and as Link stared him down began to lose his balance, his eyes glazing over in fear.

Vanished Luigi continued his assault onto the guards, him and Metal Mario double teaming a pack of them. Kirby froze a few of them in blocks of ice, and then shot himself, as a fireball, through them, so that the guards went flying through the air in a rapid explosion.

Link walked towards Ganondorf slowly, letting his sword graze against the railing of the catwalk. He narrowed his eyes in anger, staring down towards the trembling Ganondorf.

Ganondorf could take it no more. He lunged towards Link in blind fear.

Link saw this coming, and brought his sword up. Ganondorf landed on it, and slid down to his knees, gasping. Link watched him for a moment, and pulled his sword out, letting Ganondorf fall wounded to the side.

Link watched him for a moment, before using his long-shot to swing down to the ground far below, where Mario, Luigi, and Kirby stood. Yoshi followed them down, and they soon stood in a room full of cheering mushroomians, happy Yoshis, and rooting Kokiris and Hyrulians.

"Let's destroy this thing before Korpttia has a chance to use it.", said Mario, pulling the bob-omb from his overalls.

"Everyone, please, back up.", said Kirby, gesturing with his arms for the people to move back.

Luigi pulled out his own bob-omb, and Kirby called upon some of his past bomb-enemy powers. Link lit a couple bombs, and they all waited a moment.

After everyone had moved back, Mario and Luigi tossed their bob-ombs into the large creation in front of them. Kirby began spewing missiles into the already exploding ship, and Link tossed the bombs he had lit into the fray as well.

Shards of metal and debris shot throughout the room. The five heroes were lit in orange as flames leapt off of the ship. They retracted from the explosions, before Luigi yelled, "Get down!", and the five of them leapt onto their stomachs as one last, huge explosion occured, blowing whatever was left of the ship into nothingness...

Bowser opened the double doors from Korpttia's chamber, and smoke rushing into his eyes. He growled, "What's going on in here?! Slaves, get back to--", but he stopped as he peered through the smoke, spotting the demolished ship.

"WHAT!?", he screamed, leaping down into the center of the factory area.

As the smoke cleared, two faces appeared in front of the Koopa tyrant. Mario and Luigi stood to his frontside, standing in the center of the debris. Their hats had been blown off, and their overalls and shirts were ripped at random.

The Super Mario brothers looked up at Bowser with some amusement in their eyes.

"Not who you expected, huh?", asked Mario.

"No! What are you two doing here!?", screamed Bowser, as if he had already lost.

"We five are here to stop you and any other evil that thinks it can take over the Universe. People like us will always win over people like you, because we're fighting for what is right.", Link said, walking forwards, with Yoshi and Kirby following him.

Bowser backed up a bit. Mario and Luigi stepped forwards.

Bowser's head snapped back as Mario roundhoused his chin. Luigi ran up his frontside and kicked him in the back of the head as Mario shot himself in a baseball slide into his legs, toppling him onto his stomach.

After gathering some rope, they had tied Bowser up so that he could do no harm. As the five disappeared through the double doors, Mario turned to Bowser, "I'll let all these people take good care of you.", he said, gesturing towards the angry Mushroomians around the Koopa King.

"H-Hey, come on now, this whole thing was just a joke! A game! Really! We...we were gonna let you go! Seriously!", Bowser pleaded, as the Mushroomians stood around him.

Lady Bow laughed loudly, while Peach and Daisy watched Mario and Luig walk through the doors. "I knew you'd save me.", they both thought, thinking about a different brother.

Outta story: I think I've done enough for now. The big fight is gonna happen soon. I hope everyone is still liking it.

Mario's eyelids opened a ways, as he was awoken by Luigi frantically shaking him. "Mario, wake up!", the green-clad plumber was saying. Mario shook his head, blinking a few times, to wake up.

Yoshi, Kirby, Luigi, and Link were standing above Mario. He gazed past them to the metal bars in front of him.

The five were sitting in an old cell, for what appeared to be criminals. They had no idea where they were, and only that they came to be there through the large treasure chest.

"What's going on?", Mario asked.

"It's like this...", Luigi began to explain.

"When we were sucked into the chest, you hit your head on the floor of this cell, which we fell into, and were knocked out. Only you and I were sucked in because we were the only ones who had contributed to the chest, which was apparently just a trap to get us five stuck in this cell. When Yoshi, Kirby, and Link weren't captured as well, who ever it is that set this up sent his goons to capture them, and, as you can see, they were successful."

"Mama mia... that's kind of an armload...", Mario muttered, more to himself.

"Wait until you take a look outside...", Yoshi said glumly.

Mario walked slowly to the bars, anxiousness building inside of him. He brought his gloved hands up to grasp onto the bars of the cell, and peered out towards what was beyond him. "Ah!", he said, falling backwards.

About one hundred feet across from Mario's cell was a much larger cell. What seemed like every inhabitant of Popstar, Hyrule, and the Mushroom Kingdon were there. Mario shook his head in astonishment, for the cell seemed to continue on for miles.

"How did all this happen...", Mario stammered.

"It's hard to think about, Mario...", Luigi said, trying to cheer his older brother up.

Mario slammed his fist against one of the bars. It rung, and his fist was split down the center. Pain shot down his arm, causing him to retract and hold his fist, gritting his teeth in anger.

Yoshi sat propped on a weak looking cot. He looked up, speaking to the other four, "I think the only reason we weren't captured like the others was because whatever it is that did this didn't have the power to capture us. Does that make you feel any better?"

"Not really.", muttered Mario.

The cell that contained the five was very dark, but was suddenly lit up when a glowing mist from above them lit the room up. It formed into a square, and a face appeared. It was of a very strange looking man, he had very beady yellow eyes that were deep set into his face. His skin was a sort of greenishblue, an ugly color. He had straggly grey hair that fell to his shoulders, and he was bald on top. His nose was crooked to the side at the end, as if it had been broken one too many times. He sneered down at the five, showing his rotting teeth.

Kirby winced in disgust. He took little time to hesitate. "Welcome to your new home!", the man cackled, rubbing his clawed hands in front of himself. His voice had a strange crack to it, which made him very unpleasent to hear.

"What is this!?", Luigi yelled. "Why did you capture everyone!? What are you doing!?"

"Shut up, you mustached freak. I didn't say you could speak. You've accomplished so little in comparison to I. You should be honored that I'm even talking to you."

Mario wrapped his hand tighter around his sore fist, gritting his teeth. "Who are you, then?", Link said calmly.

"I am Lord Korpttia. I have the power to conquer the entire universe! Or I will, once I use all your little friends as slaves for my beautiful machine! This machine will have the power to obliterate entire galleries! Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!", Lord Korpttia laughed insanely.

"I wonder. Do you actually know anything about us, or are you just assuming we'd be afraid of you??", said Kirby smugly.

"What!? How dare you not tremble at my name! You little fool! I'll kill you myself!", Lord Korpttia screamed.

"This guy needs some anger management.", Luigi muttered.

Luigi, Mario, Link, and Yoshi turned to watch Kirby disappear...

As the bright mist cleared from above them, Lord Korpttia's voice rung out, in a growl, "I'll let you watch your little friend die. Maybe that'll discourage any thoughts of rebelling. You'll all bow to me!"

The mist enlargened and sat against the wall, so that the cell's inhabitants could watch.

Mario closed his eyes in thought. - I wonder if Kirby has swallowed more than he can chew this time. Darn him! Why did he go and do that? -

Kirby appeared standing on a hovering platform, which was surrounded by many stars and other things. Many little creatures scurried around him, frothing at their mouths and snarling.

Lord Korpttia appeared about twenty yards away. He was about ten feet tall, a giant compared to eight inch Kirby. His straggly grey hair sat unevenly against his shoulders. He wore a dark purple robe, and his chest was covered in a tight strap, that had an assortment of daggers placed in it so that they pointed at the floor.

Kirby looked up at him, a little frightened.

"Kinda wish we had some popcorn...", Luigi trailed from his place of watching. "Did that fall into his cell knock something loose? This is serious!", Link hushed him with his words.

"SO! Little one!", Korpttia boomed. "I'll let you attack me first. I don't think your little arms can do much against these--", he said, holding his arms out to his sides, and cackling arrogantly.

"Maybe not.", Kirby replied, and yelled couragously, "But I've got other ways to beat you!"

"HAH! Ahahahahahahahahahahaha...", Korpttia laughed, but his features grew angry. "You stupid little creature! Why don't you get scared!?", he screamed.

Korpttia lunged for Kirby. Kirby opened his mouth, and inhaled him, just like that. It took him a moment, but his mastery of the art of copy paid off as he copied the powers of his opponent.

Kirby was now a strange blueish green too. He had thicker, grey hair that fell to the backs of his feet. He wore the strap and knives, and resembled Korpttia this way.

"What did you do!?", Korpttia screamed at the little Dreamlander. "Grr! This is just some stupid trick!", he said, raising his arm and sending a swift stream of dark fire down towards Kirby.

Kirby brought his arms out, causing a wave of purple energy to emit from them and push the fire away, easily.

"You are strong, but when you fight me it works against you.", Kirby said, as his shockwave knocked Korpttia down onto his back.

"Grr... if I was younger...", the tyrant muttered.

Kirby narrowed his eyes, "Well, this was easier than I thought. Now, I'll save all three of our worlds!"

"Wow, Kirby actually won.", Luigi said, amazed at the little puffballs abilities.

"You haven't won!", screamed Korpttia, propping up onto his elbow. He brought his hand out, sending the strangely colored daggers towards flying towards Kirby from all directions.

He had just a second to react. Any hesitation would be the end of him.

Kirby brought his right arm up, pulling up his double-edged lighting sabre, and repelling the knives away from him.

"GAH!", screamed Korpttia, and tossed his hand at Kirby, causing him to fade into thin air and reappear, cluthing the lightning sabre in his stubb.

The mist disappeared from the wall, and the room was dark again.

Kirby shouted, expelling the Korpttia energy from himself. "That was horrible! I could feel myself beginning to become... evil. It was so strange..."

"You almost had him! He ran! Look at that. After all that bragging, too!", Luigi said, patting Kirby on the back.

Mario walked over to the bars that held him in...

A flame sparked in his palm, and he lifted it against the bars of the cell. Mario's hand was used like a blowtorch as he attempted to melt one of the bars, the sparks lighting up his sky blue eyes.

Mario was knocked backwards as he was jabbed in the stomach with a thick wooden rod.

"Get away from their, prisoner!", called a raspy voice.

"Wart?", said Mario and Luigi in unison.

"That's Master Wart, to you!", the strange creature called back. He had the same dark hue as the Matter Guys. He had been infested as well. Luigi leapt over his brother, yelled out, and stuck Wart in the face with a vicious chop.

Wart flew back the full hundred yards and slammed into the bars of the other cell.
He slid down it and sat unconcious against it, not moving.

"Wow...", Luigi said, surprised at what he could do when he was angry.

"Nice hit", said Link, scratching the back of his head.

Mario got to his feet again, standing once more on his soles, so worn, as if he walked a thousand miles.

Luigi called out to the Yoshis, Toads, and few Kokiri people who stood at the front of the cell, "What are you all doing over there?"

"What does it look like?", answered Lady Bow, sarcastically. "We're ALL stuck here! During the day they make us work to build this THING that this Korpta-ee guy is building! Get me OUTTA here!"

"But Bow...", called Mario, "Can't you just fly right through the bars?"

"No, they've got some sort of forcefield between them. I did it once already, and the guards caught me and put me back.", answered Bow.

"Those guards aren't the smartest that ever lived.", Yoshi said calmly.

"I think Wart is just stupid in general...", muttered Mario.

They had to wait until daylight until they had the chance to plan an escape...

Hey, thanks a bunch! You can be sure this story will be greatly continued upon over Christmas break, with no school to interfere. I'll probably spend about 40% of my time writing stories here at the boards. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. *flashes that classic V-sign*

The air between Mario's bob-omb and the engraving on the side of the large chest was the thickest thing possible. Mario's confidence wore off as he thought about what might happen when he placed the bob-omb into the engraving; It might blow up in his face, maybe it would unleash a great evil upon the Universe, maybe nothing would happen?

He decided to forget about it for the moment and shoved the bob-omb into place, biting his lower lip in anxiety.

...

Mario waited...

...

...

And nothing happened. The five heroes stood waiting, as if scared to move or speak.

"I guess that does it...", Mario trailed.

Luigi stepped forward, lifting a fire flower from his pocket, "I've been saving this for a rainy day", he stated, "I guess now is about the right time to use it!"

He was hesitant as he placed the fire flower into the engraving, where it stuck in as if it belonged there.

Luigi, not expecting anything to happen, was shocked as the chest began rumbling. The lid shot open, and the Mario brothers were sucked inside. The lid slammed down before Link, Yoshi, or Kirby were able to realize what had happened.

A thick gray coloring filled the bob-omb and fire flower in. The three remaining bystanders soon realized that the bob-omb and fire flower were stone, and weren't going to be extracted from the chest with ease. "Uhh...", was all Yoshi could manage. "What in the world just happened?? What is this thing!?", yelled Link, hacking the side of the chest with his sword. Sparks flew from his blade, but the chest bore no marks.

A pair of dark eyes watched this from above. They narrowed in sadistic pleasure, and a voice spoke, "That's two down, three to go...".

It was soon night time, and Kirby sat sleeping against the side of the chest. A bubble rose and lowered from one of Yoshi's nostrils as he lay sleeping on his stomach. Link stood off to the side, playing a soft melody on his Ocarina. Mario and Luigi had not yet returned...

Something caught Link's eye... a shadow. Just... a line. Nothingness. But something... had moved.

Link was a very observant and serious person, and decided that houses didn't move on their own. He treaded on thin ice as he moved towards the Toad Town post office, slipping his Ocarina into his tunic pocket.

All was still there. Nothing else moved. "I must be getting tired...", Link stated to himself.

He began walking back towards the chest, where Yoshi and Kirby lay sleeping, when another movement, a little closer this time, caught his eye.

"Yoshi, Kirby...", he spoke to the two, "I don't think we're alone here."

Kirby, not used to getting up when he didn't want to, just rolled over, and continued sleeping.

Yoshi was up quickly, alert, and ready. He sniffed the air, and knew instinctively that something had changed. There was a new smell, not just the faint smell of Lon Lon milk and old Pep Soda...

Suddenly, Link was knocked onto his chest, the force of the fall knocking the wind out of him. His lungs burned, his vision blurred, and he could feel something animalistically clawing at the shield on his back.

Link regained his composure, and spun onto his side while lifting his fist into the creatures face. He didn't get a good look at it, as it went flying off into the air, and landed some forty yards away, near the Toad Town Toad House.

Link got to his feet, pulling his sword from it's sheathe, and lifting his Hyrulian shield in front of himself. It seemed like hundreds of the strange creatures were around him.

They were strangely shaped. Short, with hoods pulled up over their faces. The walked at an unsteady pace, mumbling strange words as they did.

In the struggle with the creature, Link had forgotten about Kirby and Yoshi. He turned, to see them fighting off more of the strange dark creatures.

"What kind of Shy Guy is this!?", Yoshi was saying, holding one up that had been knocked out.

"Destroy them, Matter Guys!", came a rough, but familiar voice.

A clear, barely visible force walked from the shadows near the Toad Town post office. It was a mirror image of Link... the same one he had fought in his quest against the evil wizardry of Ganondorf.

"I think I get it", said Kirby. Yoshi and Link turned to him to listen to him explaining about how after copying the ability of one of the Matter Guys, even though he got no power from it, he learned about them. He explained that they were simply Shy Guys, which had been infested by the parasitical Dark Matter. Kirby explained what the Dark Matter was to Yoshi and Link, and how he had previously battled it in his quest for the Crystal Shards.

And so the battle raged on. Link parried and struck, and easily took down many of the Matter Guys. Kirby and Yoshi were double teaming a pack of them in a rapid barrage of eggs, fists, and feet.

But they seemed to never die. Whenever they seemed to be on the verge of dying, they would surround themselves in a shield of ice, and be back on their feet.

Link pulled out his bow, and loaded an arrow. He scraped the flint end of it against the back of his shield to light it, and sent it flying into the ice sheild of a healing Matter Guy. The shield snapped, and the Matter Guy was deminished into nothing but a black mist. "That's it!", said Kirby, "We have to get them while they're healing! Maybe we need to use fire?", he stated.

"I'll shoot them with my fire arrows, then!", replied Link, but he had spoken too soon as Mirror Link had crept up behind him, and slashed off the ends of his arrows, rendering them useless.

"No!", screamed Link, whipping around to slash at the mirror image of himself, who in return slashed against Link's sword in an exact replica of the other's slash. And on they fought, exact copies of one another.

Kirby and Yoshi had no time to help as they were busy fighting off the remaining Matter Guys. They kept on knocking them back, but had no way to get rid of them for lack of fire.

When the Matter Guy battle had cooled a little, Kirby and Yoshi turned to see Mirror Link slashing Link in many places, where he had no time to help. Link lept back away from Mirror Link, and leapt again, landing on the roof of one of the buildings in Toad Town.

The two where silhouetted against the moon as they ruthlessly battled. Link was forced to give up his shield, as that arm had been wounded by a ferocious slash from the Hyrulian clone.

Link rolled out of the way of a fatal overhead strike, just in time. He slashed in a fury of anger, the tears from his pain stinging his eyes, his legs like rubber beneath him.

Kirby began to run towards the two, but was blinded as Link threw down a Deku nut. The Hyrulian-descendent, Kokiri-hearted warrior slashed up vertically through his attacker, and then fell, unconcious, to the ground below...

The number of Matter Guys increased, and soon Kirby and Yoshi were covered in darkness. Everything went black.

The smoke cleared where the Deku nut had been thrown, and Mirror Link was gone... no trace of him was left.

When Link finally awoke, it was to see the top of the chest open, and watch as he was tossed in, barely able to move, let alone stop his attackers.

It had all been a trap.

The dark eyes from above were accompanied by a dark laugh. "These five are this Universe's greatest heroes? Hah. Consider this world... mine."

Out of story: I hope everyone likes it so far. I figured I'd go with my own thing. I'm trying to make it realistic too. Even if it doesn't seem that way in the games sometimes, that's how it would be for the characters when they were really down on their luck. Yeah, scary o_o.
