The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.

Persuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then?  I cannot say.

Hmm... interesting that Nintendo would deny that.  I have quite a few pics gathered from various sources (including E-bay) that show the NSS in all it's glory.  These pictures look fairly credible to me, with the Nintendo  logo and seal of approval all over the machine's cabinet and marquees, not to mention documentation.  I even found a scan of the machine's schematics!  All this is strong evidence toward the existance of such a machine.

PS.- The controllers look _really_ cool.  I wonder why Nintendo changed the design...

OK, I understand you guys aren't talking about blood and guts and hand grenades.  However, I was wondering what you mean by more realistic.  If Mario games were realistic, they wouldn't be any fun! ; )

Video Game Chat / Re: SNES emulator that records to wav files
« on: August 14, 2000, 09:28:34 AM »
I don't know of any emulator that will do all that, but most recent versions of ZSNES and SNES9xwill record music in SPC format.  To play the SPC files you need an SPC player like WinSPC or Super Jukebox.  Super Jukebox now allows you to turn off channels, I believe.  You can find both in the SPC player sections on <www.zophar.net>

You probably already knew that, though.

As far as I know (and I know a little bit about this) Mario Bros. was not released for the Vs. Unisystem.  On the other hand, Super Mario Bros. was.

I think the Vs. Unisystem came out after first generation NES games (Mario Bros, Balloon Fight) were technologically obsolete.  Nintendo probably thought it was a waste of time to re-release those games.  Only about 17 to 20 games were actually ported to the Unisystem anyway, so it doesn't surprise me.

Edit- I found a few really bad typos.  Where's my coffee...

Maybe that's why enemies kept on stealing his hat in M64.  They must have just now figured out Mario's weakness, like kryptonite or something.  Mario does take more damage without his hat...

Regarding the secret page:

1. What does the user gain by finding it?  What is the incentive?

2. Is it only accessable through the main (not splash) page, or could it be hidden anywhere?

I read the source code and found the message in October of '99, but I thought nothing of it at the time.  Guess it's kind of a big deal...

I think Deezer specifically requested that all brain droppings be shoveled into the general chat MB...

As much as I hate to admit it, I am growing up.  I don't play my Nintendo as much now as I used to.  However, as few as 3 years ago, I played quite a bit.  I have a younger brother, who was around 5 at the time.  The worst video game nightmare possibly imaginable happened to me on a regular basis.

Due to his inability to use the SNES controller correctly, my brother often erased my save data on several different games.  Of course I couldn't get mad at him; he had no idea what he was doing at the time.

Oh... did you completely delete the files or simply move them to another directory?

Like I said, I really don't know.

Everybody was a newbie at least once.  If you are one, well; you just have to deal with it, I guess... ; )

Yoshi348- When did Nintendo deny producing an arcade machine?

The system in question, the Nintendo Super System, was released in select arcades and retail stores to generate interest in the Super Nintendo (aka Super Famicom).

To my knowledge, the machine was only released in Japan (mainly because Nintendo is mentioned in every JAMMA listing as maker of the NSS), although several people have posted saying they played the game in the US.

Simply because the machine is rare and unknown is no proof that it does not exist.

I am still on my mad quest for information on this obscure arcade machine and it's games...
