Here's a joke that I made up. Just for fun, see if you can guess the punchline.

Mario woke up one morning to find that his stash of Coins was gone! He called the Mushroom police, who, after a long search for evidence, concluded that the robbery was committed by. . . King Fret!

Mario and Luigi set out to find King Fret and have him arrested. The going was rough, with lots of Goombas and Koopas in the path. Mario and Luigi stomped every one. Unfortunately, they couldn't find King Fret.

They were about to give up when Prince Pine came to them. Bowser had just tested his shrink ray on him, so he was only 12 inches tall. "I need your help! I just try to talk to Father about something and he runs off into the woods!"

"Show us where he is!" Mario said, with a new hope. Prince Pine showed them the way, and they kept close, until they saw King Fret hiding in some bushes. The brothers lunged out at him.

"Why did you steal Mario's stash of coins?" Luigi asked sternly.

"How did you know I was here?" the king said, surprised.

And Mario answered. . . .

Mario Chat / Mario Game Records!

Today I played Dr. Mario 64, I hadn't in a long time. . . and in Marathon mode, got some interesting records. My game lasted 27:23, during which I cleared 467 viruses and scored 192,400 points. I was very surprised, since my old record was 81,400 points-- a vast improvement.

Can you beat that record? I'm sure you can-- after all, I was playing on MED speed, and scores are 50% higher on HI speed! If you play on HI speed, you'll certainly beat it!

Also, do you have any other Mario game records you'd like to share? For example, the most jumps I ever had in MP3's Tick Tock Hop was 93. If you want to try and beat it, you should use two controllers, since even on Hard, the computer can't manage that many jumps.

MARIO MASTER 30000 KEEPS TALKING IN ALL CAPS, LIKE THIS. We would prefer for him to talk like this. TALKING IN ALL CAPS IS ANNOYING. ESPECIALLY WHEN USED FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. This is a warning, MARIO MASTER 30000. If you don't stop talking LIKE THIS, we might get very upset at you. You might even get banned! yes, i know and mario knows and bowser knows that capital letters are essential to proper grammar, but IN EXCESS AMOUNTS ARE ANNOYING. THERE'S EVEN A NAME FOR THEM: "SCREAMING". Talking like this, on the other hand, is calmer and more likely to get a positive reply.

Mind you, we're not angry with you; as a matter of fact, we're glad that you've come to share your opinions about Mario. BUT WE DON'T LIKE SENTENCES LIKE THIS, WHETHER THEY ARE ABOUT SONIC OR MARIO. Don't take this as a "Get off the message board right now!" post. We want you to post here, and I'm just trying to resolve things in a peaceful manner by giving you a warning. If you can start posting like this and STOP POSTING LIKE THIS, then we'll all benefit: You'll get to share your opinions about Mario games, and we can have a new person to talk to about Mario.

Name some of your favorite special effects from Mario games here. It can be any Mario game, present, past, or distant past.

Here's some of mine:

Mario Party 3: In Boulder Ball, when a rock lands into the single player's machine, the paper rocks and cacti behind him bounce. (I jst noticed this one today!)

In Slot Synch, when you get a pair, the corresponding characters behind you get excited.

In Winner's Wheel, the audience is cheerful when you win, and sympathetic if you lose.

Wario's Woods:

The explosion effect when you get rid of a diamond.

Yoshi's Cookie was challenging, but I finally finished the puzzle mode! Along the way I obtained some passwords Deezer didn't have.

Mario was teaching his audience efficiency techniques. After the lecture was over he ended with a word of caution. "You don't want to try these techniques at home."

"Why not?" asked a Goomba in the audience.

"I was watching Peach's breakfast routine for years. She carried only one item at a time, taking many trips to the stove, the cabinets, the fridge, and the table. 'Hon,' I said, 'why don't you try carrying several things at once?'"

"Did it save time?"

"Actually, yes. It used to take her twenty minutes to prepare breakfast. Now I do it in seven minutes."

Super Mario Kart

Flip-flop screens
Hold L and R while you select a one-player game in Grand Prix mode. Select your class, driver, and track. When you start GP mode, you will be at the bottom of the screen, in 7th place.

I've tried to enter this code, but it won't work. What am I doing wrong? Don't call me stupid; I've only had the game for two months!

I just discovered that in Yoshi's Cookie, if you don't enter a name, then the game will enter one for you. It depends on your controller and character.

1P:

Mario: MAR
Yoshi: YOS
Princess: PEA (You know what this means? Yoshi's Cookie was released BEFORE Yoshi's You-Know-What! So Yoshi's You-Know-What wasn't the first game to use the princess's Japanese name!)
Bowser: KOO (as in Koopa)

Unfortunately, the names are a bit more cryptic for 2P:

Mario: UNC
Yoshi: ANI
Princess: PRI
Bowser: BIB

I'm trying to figure out the meaning of these names, if these names have any meaning. Any suggestions?
