Yeah, I agree with you about Smash Bros. Melee. I like to play with Luigi and Ganondorf, although I'm still "fluffing the pillow" with Ganondorf, or something.
The graphics are pretty cool; Mario and Luigi now have fingers!
I feel right at home with Luigi's maneuvers, although I didn't at first. Many a time was there when the Green Missile was my demise, as I soundly rocketed to my doom off the screen. ¬_¬;;
But things are better for me now. I can get back from almost any distance with the G. Missile, and no one tries to get in my way. If they do, they learn the hard way that Luigi drank his milk as a kid.
Luigi is well-balanced in SSBM, too. Not too fast and strong, he lies somewhere in the middle, and has both long and short-distance attacks he can use. The fireball can be used as a long-range damaging technique, or as something to stop an oncoming mallot-weilding enemy. It doesn't help too much against that kind of thing, though. His Super/Fire Jump Punch is also still the coolest move in the game (in my opinion) and can take out a lot of the middle-weights on about 60-70% damage.
There isn't much to say about the Luigi Cyclone, except that it was the move that defeated Giga Bowser, Mewtwo and Ganondorf during Special Event 51. It stops any opponent in their tracks, and Luigi can move at blinding speeds across a short distance while using it, which can come in handy when he's engaged in hand-to-hand combat. It finally can knock them in the air, where Luigi can complete a numerous assault of air attacks on his unlucky opponents.

I think Luigi's Mansion was meant to be on the short side. After all, it had to seem realistic, as the entire adventure lasted only one night. It was supposed to be like a littler adventure, with a specific theme, to show off the nifty GameCube graphics and control style. It has good replay value, especially if you're a perfectionist like me who sometimes lies awake at night thinking of how to nab that last Boo. I always get 49/50, and I think maybe if I caught them all, something special would happen. (Darn you, Boocaster!)
Anyhow, Luigi's Mansion is a good game for a late-night romp, but I think that Nintendo made sure it didn't steal the show. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but I don't think Mario Sunshine is meant to be that either.
If Miyamoto promised a Mario/Luigi platform for the GameCube, then it will probably take the cake, and be the greatest Mario-themed game to come out at that time. It will have to downsize both Mansion and Sunshine to have the same effect.
I still am fond of the idea of the smaller, more specific game such as Luigi's Mansion. I think a series of Luigi/Mario games with either one in them is a great pre-Mario Bros. Cubed line-up, before a large and awesome game comes out and blows us away, eh?
Anyway... I guess that's all I have to say for now.
