Hmmm... so does anyone remember HOW to do it?  Or has anyone found a site that says HOW?  OR am I JUST NUTS!?

Mario Chat / SMB3 Crown Secret

Alright... Waaaaay back when, when SMB3 first came out for NES, I was over at my neighboors house and I swear I remember him getting a crown on mario's head in the first world (green land).  The crown allowed mario to move to the left of the START block and there were some extra goodies on the left.  Does anyone out there remember how to do this?  Or do you guys think my memory is just so fubarred up I have no idea what I'm talking about?
