I suppose I forgot to mention that this all happened and I received the anchor while playing Super Mario AllStars Super Mario Bros. 3 on my SuperNintendo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I received a blue mushroom house after beating level 2-2 and getting all the coins, ect. I went in to the mushroom house and they gave me an anchor. What do I do with it? When do I use it? What does it do? I don't want to waste it to have these questions answered, so if someone could help I'd appreciate it!!
