I wonder what the "hacker" will think when he sees what I did to his favorite TV show DVD collection.

I picked up an Ultima anthology disc (containing I-VIII), Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, No One Lives Forever 2, and two copies of Splinter Cell for $4 at a garage sale earlier today. Everything except Splinter Cell includes the relevant manuals.

Edit to prevent double-post: Today we began having unlimited texting. Suddenly the QWERTY keypad on my phone has become very useful. I just finished setting up mobile Twitter and Facebook stuff, so I'll likely be using both of those services more often.

I just bought a Toad hat in ACCF! I had no idea there was Toad hat! Now I just need to save up enough points again to find out what the 10,000 point item is. I detest time travelling, but maybe I'll travel back to yesterday after I save up some more bells. Nook was having a point sale yesterday..

Now, if only there were an improved Toad shirt..

Say, do items ordered from Nook's catalogue provide Points? Getting those Nintendo-themed accessories shouldn't be too difficult if such is the case.

I picked up a netbook yesterday. Basically the exact same specs as the one I had been looking at online, except that it has a 900MHz Celeron processor rather than a 1.66GHz Atom. I'm amazed by the amount of things this can run that it totally shouldn't be able to - and by the number of programs I've tried that have 1024x600 resolution settings. I'm totally posting from the thing right now!

I'm feeling pretty good, since I beat Penumbra: Overture the other day. Pretty good game, overall. The combat is more visceral overall than most adventure games without turning into a straight action game, and the puzzles make sense, mostly (although at one point you may be asking yourself why your dude is so compelled to make his way across a hazardous frozen lake). It's a tad annoying that the hammer, pickaxe, and broom all act exclusively as weapons, while the saw and crowbar act exclusively as key-items (meaning you can't go all Gordon Freeman on the many rabid dogs you'll encounter).

I've just starting Penumbra: Black Plague, however, and...well, while it's too early to form a whole opinion on the game, it does seem a tad below-par based on the quality of Episode 1. The puzzles are far more arbitrary (read: Resident Evil-like) than before, and while Penumbra 1 was a nice blend of H.P. Lovecraft atmosphere and The Thing setting, for part deux Frictional seemed to be uncounsiously aping stylistic elements of Portal and Resident Evil for no real reason. However, I was genuinely scared [dukar]less by a pasty naked zombie dude, so there's that.

Last Day of School today! Yes, due to multiple natural disasters both major and minor, enough school days were cancelled in the past so the near-completely pointless "Student Appreciation (Half-) Day" takes place on a Monday, and few may show up, but I'm sure some interesting things will happen. And hey, c'mon, last day of school here.

Gah, you're so lucky. I've still got another week of school. Today is the last full day, though.

I finished my final exam of Grade 11 last week, and school doesn't start again here until September 8. In other words, you folks are gonna see alot more Weegee during the next three months.
