As for your grammatical error, Steve... I've determined that asking "aren't I?" is improper grammar as well. I say "amn't I?" instead, because you say "Am I not," not "are I not."

I thought about that in bed a couple days ago during one of many failed attempts to fall asleep.

We can say He isn't good, or He's not good.
Also: You aren't good, and You're not good.

But why not "I amn't good"?

I think it is because most people are too lazy too try and figure out how to say "amn't" correctly.

Everyone has their own opinions, no matter how WRONG they are.

When you have a something-n't contraction that doesn't seem to work, stick in the universal but slang "ain't" in its place, and what you get will at least make some sense.

I amn't ––> I ain't
You aren't ––> You ain't
They isn't ––> They ain't

You get the point.
