For images? That would be [alt="Message"] without brackets inside your image tag.

Wrong! As I noted earlier, [title="Message"] is the correct way to do that. [alt="Message"] displays text in an image's place when it fails to load.

That is, unless your browser treats these attributes differently than mine does.

Using my handy-dandy monkey test subject, it seems that Internet Explorer does show [alt] on mouseover but Firefox (which I now use) does not. Thanks for the tip! How did you see my alts before?

Right click, then select properties.

Time slowed and Reality bent.
But on and on the Eggman went.

You're welcome!

I had to view the page source. :/ But it's cool. :)

Now I have an image-related question to pose for anyone interested. How do you make cool GIFs with transparent pixels like the one below? Is it simply a matter of obtaining the right software? I think playing with images is a lot of fun, but my image-creation and editing skills are humble at best.

Thanks!

Yes, you just need the right software... I'm not sure what's available on Mac besides Photoshop and GIMP.  GIMP is free at least.  I use Paint Shop Pro / Animation Shop on Windows and used to use GIF Construction Set.

You reply too slowly.

There are programs, however, that let you trim the picture into an outline of the solid text, thereby making it seem transparent.
