Author Topic: I found my mystery after 10 years!  (Read 5171 times)

Hi, everyone.

I am quite happy at this moment! It has been years since I even played with my old Super Mario Bros. I & III games on the old Nintendo System, but just today I think I finally found the answer that baffeled me for ten solid years!

I don't know if anyone has ever noticed this or not, but if you look at the back of the cardboard box cover for Super Mario Bros. 3, the level I map (I believe) did indeed show slightly different. After reading this page, I realized there was also some talk about a Japanese version. Then it dawned on me that it could've been the image from the Japanese version. Euoreka! That was probably it! Wow! I can't believe that today I felt like researching this mystery to see if I found anything, and it feels good knowing I came across it after 10 years!

Now on to me next quest: I am now tempted to find the plugs on my old system to play the game. I enjoyed playing it so much!

Thanks for listening!

Haven't we had this discussion before? Deezer said he was going to scan the screenshots and put them up, but he never seemed to do it...

I have them uploaded, just not on the site. Svenska, I'm sorry to say your mystery hath been renewed; it's not from the Japanese version. The screen shots were probably taken from an incomplete "beta" version of Super Mario Bros. 3.

Deezer: Thanks so much for those screenshot pics! Also, thank you very much for the clarification on the "beta" version. It all seems to fit. I used to think that after passing all 8 levels, the worlds would, therafter, be altered. Now I know the truth. Are there any beta versions available?

Also, the pictures on the back of the Super Mario 64 (American) box are different from the game...
People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

Thanks, Mario Maniac. That is what had baffeled me for 10 years because the map on box I have is slightly different. I used to think that after passing all the worlds, the map would appear, but it wasn't the case. I've passed all twice at one time. I gotta look for my game system because I'm in the mood to play it.

I've got another question. Does anyone know where I can download the Super Mario Bros. (I, II, or III) on my PC and play them off of here? Or at least, any levels of any of the games. Thanks ahead of time!
