I could have sworn Tanooki Suit was in the same level as Kuribo's shoe... hmm.
If you mean same
world, then yes, it is possible to get the Tanooki Suit in World 5, though it appears in a level and a couple of Mushroom Houses in World 4. I don't think the Tanooki appears in World 3, so it wouldn't be possible to have it to use against the Spikes (little ball throwing enemies), unless you used a warp whistle to go back to World 3 or are playing the SNES/GBA games, where you can get a suit in your inventory, save the game, then go back and use it in any desired World, or just go to the all World Map screen in the GBA game. (whew! Run on sentence!)
I know the Spikes appeared in a later level (one in World 6), but I don't think they were ever as abundant as they were in World 3 (3-7 is the one, I think).
