She never changed her name. In Japan she's always been Peach. If you talk to the Japanese about Princess Toadstool, they'll have no idea what you're talking about.

The first game in America to take advantage of the Peach name wasn't SM64, but SNES Yoshi's Cookie. In Vs, if 1P chose the princess without entering a name, PEA would be the default name. However, even if you disqualify Yoshi's Cookie (it did truncate the name, after all), then SM64 still would lose to another SNES game that around here is called Yoshi's You-Know-What. (In other places, such as video game FAQ's, it's known as Yoshi's Ess-a-ef-a-ar-eye.) Yoshi's You-Know-What was released a mere three months after Yoshi's Cookie, but from what I hear, it's a million times worse. At least Yoshi's Cookie doesn't require a shoulder to put the Super Scope on. And your IQ actually goes up when you play Yoshi's Cookie. (I once knew a boy who played Yoshi's You-Know-What so much he actually had a negative IQ.)

I hate you.

It's not a matter of optimism or pessimism, it's a matter of common sense! (half empty or half full?)
