Author Topic: Why Is Sony Copying Nintendo's Franchises?  (Read 5153 times)

Probably one of the greatest examples I can give of this is Spyro.

Now, when I first play this game, I've became addicted to it. I absolutely love it! And I couldn't understand why. I have never love any of the titles on the Playstation THAT much.

Then I found out. Spyro is a rip-off of Super Mario 64!

Now, let's contrast Mario 64 to the newest Spyro game that I have played, Spyro:Year of the Dragon.
-------------------------
Super Mario 64 = You have to find stars in every level.

Spyro = You have to find eggs or some other things.

Super Mario 64 = You get to go into many different levels. And you can go back to them if you like.

Spyro = You get to go into many different levels. And you can go back to them if you like.

Super Mario 64 = You are require to play little fun mini-games to get stars.

Spyro = You are require to play little fun mini-games to get stars.

Super Mario 64 = Very easy on most of the levels, but kind of difficult on some.

Spyro = Very easy on most of the levels, but kind of difficult on some.
-------------------------

See what I mean?! Now, I only contrast Spyro:Year of the Dragon, but all of the Spyro games have pretty much the same type og gameplay!

And now they're trying to copy Zelda with some BS game called Dark Cloud?

Now that is seriously messed up! The least they could of do was change it more! One of the houses in Dark Cloud looks almost exactly like Link's house from Zelda 64!

What's next? Super Smash Brothers or Metroid? Or did they copy them already?

The reason they copy Nintendo's games is because the people who work for Sony don't have any ideas of their own so they just try to make games that will leach off of the popularity of Nintendo games.

Sony does have a portable system: The new smaller verion of the PlayStation 1 (called PS one). It can have a small LCD screen attach to the back of it and it runs off a battery pack. I have a PS one (I love it!) but I don't have the screen for it...

And Sony did not make Spyro the Dragon... It was made by another company called Insomniac.

------------------------------
"Bwa ha ha! Guess who it is, loyal Mario fans...

It is I, King Bowser... ruler of all Koopas, big and small. I have come to take over the Mushroom Kingdom (no, not the place...I mean the WEB SITE!)! Deezer, you will surrender your troops to me, or else you will never see your precious Mario again! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

I hate to have to defend Sony on this one, but come on!!!aren't you being just a little unfair????the storyline of sm64 is the storyline of a good quality adventure game. Therefore, everybody wants to make a good game,so they'll have a similar storyline.

you really dont know, do you??

ok, this is stupid. play dark cloud before you say it copied zelda. dark cloud, as far as I've played, was about some dude trying to collect parts of a town captured in magic bubble thingies. and zelda is about what? some kid who has to collect medalions and spiritual stones. not the same! sure they both have SIMILER GAMEPLAY which means some person running around with a sword but that is not truly copying. the system of play is different. as for sony copying, yes they did copy. as did many companies! anything thats a platform game is a copy off of mario 64! banjo kazooie is just like mario64 and I don't see you whining over him! then agian, it starts getting touchy after crash bandicoot goes racing in go karts and then has a party game............

sony worker: ok, here's the plan, crahs bandicoot goes racing in go karts using power ups to hurt his enemies!
other sony worker: didn't that fat guy in the moustache already do that?
sony worker: so?
other sony worker: genious! pure genious! wanna have him play tennis next?

though I dislike these sorts of actions I relize that our true enemy is not in sony but in bill gates and his horrid machine, the x-box!
note: I was in the mailbag as luigi_fan_davis and my game about mario and sonic will show my hatred for this mark of pure evil with a large green x!

Okay Deijitaru_Davis.

First of all, I DID NOT say that Dark Cloud and Zelda was exactly alike. I just said that they were very similar. Plus, the fact that Sony exclaimed Dark Cloud will be a Zelda killer probably add to that assumption, now doesn't it?

And another thing, I'm not saying that EVERY 3D game that is similar in style to Mario 64 is a copy of it. I usually say it is a copy when the gameplay and elements of the game are similar to it too. So before you called me stupid or anything of the sorts, I just wanted to tell you this.

Oh, and the person who told me Spyro was made by Insomniac? Thanks. I never actually noticed the Insomniac sign until Spyro:Year of the Dragon. But even then I still thought it was made by Sony. Thanks for telling me that.

I saw a picture of Dark Cloud on GameSpot.com a few days ago, and the kid looked exactly like Link, except with better graphics.
