One thing that confuses me: Three Donkey Kongs. I know that There's the original Donkey Kong, DK Jr., and the DK that stars in Donkey Kong Country, etc. But who's Cranky Kong? I thought he was New DK's grandpa, a.k.a. the original DK, but then I played DK64, and Cranky called New Donkey his son? What the heck is going on???

Cranky Kong is Donkey Kong Senior. Donkey Kong is Donkey Kong Junior.

Allow me to explain.

Although there is really no official word on Donkey Kong's ancestry, we have come to assume from playing the many different Donkey Kong games this one fact:

Cranky Kong [from the "Donkey Kong Country" games] was the original "Arcade Donkey Kong".

The Donkey Kong we know of today was actually Donkey Kong Jr. from the Arcade game.

In other words "new" Donkey Kong is Cranky Kong's son.
...

Also Diddy Kong and the rest of the Kong Krew bear no noticable relationship to Cranky nor Donkey Kong.

Mario Tennis Donkey Kong Jr. is to DKC Donkey Kong as Mario Tennis Baby Mario is to Mario.

In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people.
Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed, and blew it out.

So you're saying that "Mario Tennis" Donkey Kong Jr. is Donkey Kong's [from "DK Country"] son?

If so, then Baby Mario from "Mario Tennis" is Mario's son! That means he and Peach really did have ***!

NO, that's not what I'm saying. If Baby Mario is Mario as a baby, DKJR is DK as a child. Get it? They're the same people at different ages is what I'm saying.

I believe there was a mailbag last year that explained it all. It was quite simple. the DKC storyline fits nowhere in the Mario Universe. Becuase if Cranky was the arcade Donkey Kong, wouldn't Mario be old too?

In the DKC manual it says Diddy is Donkey's nephew.

In my opinion there is only one dk. He came from donkey kong arcade and continued in dkc. cranky is just his dad.  Donkey kong junior is his son.

Apes age much faster than humans. Their life expectancy is like 17 years.

And since animals are anthropomorphic in Mario's universe, they age the same as humans. So, when the DK from DK Arcade went into that universe, he was already old. Get it?
