You folks will probably never believe this...

A few months ago, I was looking up information about voice-acting careers (in cartoons, video games, etc.). I e-mailed Charles Martinet about this subject (voice-acting)...and he personally replied to my letter! He told me that if voice acting is what I am interested in, then I should go for it, and never let anyone get in the way of my goals and dreams!

And get this:
Charles Martinet told me that he didn't even audition to be the voice of Mario. He actually went to the auditions by mistake! He told me that he LOVES doing the voices in Mario games, he said that it is his favorite type of work.

Sweet! I love doing voice impressions, too. I've perfected Yoshi, Daisy and Ralph Wiggum (Simpsons). I can ALMOST perfect Peach (Jen Taylor), but her voice is a bit too falsetto. Male characters, even if they have a higher voice are harder. I'm pretty good at the gay little Pokemon *shudders*, mainly b/c I mock them in SSBM. Heheh...

I can do Mario almost perfectly. I have a dead-on "A-thank you so much-a for to playing my game."
I'm actually pretty good at Peach, which is weird, considering I have a pretty dang low voice.
I'm pretty good at Luigi too.

I read in an interview with Charlie that he went to the auditions in place of a friend who couldn't make it.

I can do Mario's voice pretty good! Although my voice sometimes cracks if I try to be too falsetto...

When Charles Martinet dies, I wonder if Nintendo will hold auditions for a new "voice of Mario"...

Heheh... Maybe I could do Yoshi's voice... I love the little "weehaha hooo" sound. But "Yoshi" always comes out the absoulute best sounding.

BTW, who does Yoshi's voice? I know Charles Martinet does most of the male characters, and Jen Taylor does the females and Toad, but who are the other actors?  Like in SMS, I noticed a whole bunch more. Does anyone know who these actors played? Whoever did Yoshi (some Japanese person) in SSBM was different in SMS.

Oh, is it just me, or did anyone else find Bowser's voice a bit...off? At least from what you imagined?

I kinda miss the days of Mario and Luigi's voices being deeper, such as that from the Super Mario Bros Super Show, or The Super Mario Bros 3 show, but Mr. Martinet (whos name was misspelled in Super Smash Bros. Martinet, not Martinay or however they spelled it.) does a terrific job of the Mario characters. Plus it funny to think of him as Arnie the dinosaur. He he..

Here's my theory: Mario and Luigi's voices aren't really like that, they just talk that way for fun. They probably don't even have Italian accents. Take a look at Paper Mario: Luigi talked very normally, just like anyone else would. Maybe it's all just for fun?

You think they're actually gonna WRITE IN Italian grammar?!

Yeah, I thought Bowser's voice had a little too much voice and not enough roar.

I can also do a Lylatian accent (otherwise known as a British guy trying too hard to sound American). I can sound almost exactly like Fox McCloud. (Steve Malpass.)

Eh-heh. I'm terrible at mimicing voices. Terrible I say. The closest I can get to any would probably be Gannondorf's laugh from Ocarina of Time. Followed closely by Wario's laugh. But seriously, I'm not so great at those either. I guess voice-acting won't be on my career list.

I can do these following voices almost perfectly...

CARTOON CHARACTERS:
Bugs Bunny (from Looney Tunes)
Daffy Duck (from Looney Tunes)
Porky Pig (from Looney Tunes)
Marvin Martian (from Looney Tunes)
Sylvester Cat (from Looney Tunes)

VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS:
Mario (I can't go too high on the falsetto)
Luigi (I can do the Mario Kart 64 version)
Wario
Bowser (I made up a new deep-voiced growl)

...Pretty impressive huh? Also, did you know that Mel Blanc did all the voices of the Looney Tunes characters (from the 1930's up to the 1980's).

Yes, but June Foray also did a bunch, like Granny.

I'm not the best at voice acting, but I can sorta do:
Snake(MGS2)
Ocelot(MGS2)
Mario(Captain Lou)
Luigi(Danny Wells and Luigi from all the games except MKSC his voice is too high)
I use to be able to do most of the higher voiced characters such as Yoshi or Peach, but my voice has gotten pretty deep, so I can't anymore..
