As part of its recent year-end financial report, Nintendo revealed cumulative sales totals for its major series, and the numbers for the world's most popular plumber are staggering. Across a total of nineteen titles, the Super Mario Brothers series has managed worldwide sales of 174 million units. This figure works out to 54 million units across nine portable titles and 120 million units across 10 home titles.Pokemon comes in second at 91 million units, a figure which Nintendo arrives at from the franchise's eleven portable titles. Apparently, the company has chosen to not include sales from the series' console counterparts (which, admittedly, don't amount to much compared to sales on the Game Boy systems).Donkey Kong beats out Zelda for third place with 43 million units, split across 28 million via ten home titles and 15 million via seven portable titles. Zelda comes in at 42 million units, with seven home titles accounting for 30 million units and five portable titles accounting for 12 million units.Of course, just looking at sales in the present, nothing stops Pokemon. For last year, Pokemon Ruby & Saphire on Game Boy Advance managed worldwide sales of 6.12 million units, bringing the game's worldwide total to a staggering 12.78 million units. Zelda: Wind Waker managed sales of 1.31 million units last year, brining its total to 3.33 million. Mario Advance 4, Mario Party 5 and Mario Kart Double Dash all saw release last year and managed total sales of, respectively, 2.59 million, 1.64 million and 3.58 million units.
