Recently, every time I try to connect through mIRC or Java I keep getting an error message reading "Unable to connect to server: Connection timed out". How do I fix this?

After about midnight last night I started getting the same message, but I can connect now.  I didn't get a reply from anyone, but not many people are active this early.
