Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach summary

After hours of searching, piling together pictures and clips, and translating using a combination of babelfish, dictionaries and my limited knowledge, I’m finally piercing together the plot of the 1986 Japanese Mario movie. I have NOT watched the movie, I’m as clueless as you are about this rare gem that keeps getting 5/5 in reviews everywhere I go. (Are we missing something or what!) Sadly I didn't save the URLS at the time and I just kinda... saved what I found... >_<; Most resources come from SMBIS and its links.

WARNING – this will NOT be 100% accurate! At best it’ll give you an idea of what went on. It will probably be updated as I figure out more and more of the movie and kidnap Japanese-English speaking people. If I’m VERY unsure about a scene, I WILL still add it in but I’ll probably add tons of (?) and guess warnings. i.e. Mario’s tea I’m still unsure of. If someone actually WATCHED the movie, please take over! I’m just stabbing in the dark. ;.;

DON'T STEAL MY HORRIBLE VAGUE POOR EXCUSE FOR A SUMMARY!

The movie opens with Mario playing his Famicom late at night. Luigi enters wearing his PJs, bringing in Mario’s tea (?), which Mario ignores. When Luigi is gone, the TV screen changes, and it starts to pitter-patter, opening the portal to the Mushroom Kingdom. After some commotion in the TV (?), Princess Peach appears unconscious wearing a crystal necklace. Mario is intrigued and nears her then she wakes up, startling the both of them. After some dialogue exchange, King Kuppa appears and snatches the Princess. However, Peach managed to slip (or accidently dropped) the necklace to Mario before being captured. The TV returns to normal. At first Mario is in shock and doesn’t believe what just happened (and falls asleep after?). However when he looks at the accessory he is convinced it was not a dream and the night continues.

Luigi, suspecting something has happened, enters the room. Mario tries to explain but Luigi insists it was a dream. Mario shows the pendant. Scene ends followed by music and it’s morning.

End Part 1 - attempting to figure out part two now...

I never knew you were part of the TMK forums! It's me, SUPERMARIO107, from the NSider forums. I already read this thread at NSider. Its cool to know that users beside Jean_De_Pied are part of this forum and the NSider forums.

^_^ hi! Lol small word.

Part 2:

Part 2: *Munches Japanese-English dictionary.* THE DOG RULES YOU ALL!

Mario and Luigi are at a (bakery?) store (theirs? Someone elses?) and Mario stares at the pendant. (Ideas of treasure are being past between them?) Suddenly (using the dramatic shadow/approaching figure scene) a dog comes out of nowhere and snatches the necklace. Mario and Luigi chase the dog outside and follow him. Luigi grabs a shovel since he thinks the dog will lead them to treasure. A musical chase scene starts. The two plumbers chase the dog into the wilderness. The mutt enters a Warp Pipe with the two at his heels and they enter the Mushroom Kingdom.

I find it odd how the story begins with Mario playing on a Famicom.

Is she talking about the Japanese version of the Mario movie starring Bob Hoskins in America?

*Steals horribly vague poor excuse of a summary*
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

I got some help in translating a Mario Japanese clip... I dunno where this takes place exactly but close to the end.

Part ??? (Not sure where this takes place.)
This is dialogue exchanged between Peach and Bowser:

Peach: (on the balcony outside) Please come save me, Mario.
Kuppa: (behind her) Peach-chan, about the wedding tonight what colour wedding dress do you want? Pink, white, or….
Peach: Stop it, who the #$@$'s going to marry you? No way!
Kuppa: I love you more than anyone else, Peach-chan.
Peach: If you really love me you wouldn’t do this. (Walks inside, angry)
Kuppa: Don’t make that kind of face.
Peach: Let’s play transformation.
Kuppa: Well we have to prepare for the wedding.
Peach: (crying/whining) No I want to play the transformation game!!!
Kuppa: I understand that I understand that, Peach-chan.
Peach: I want you to transform into (scarecrow?)
Kuppa: (scare...crow?) (does so)
Peach: You’re beautiful! Now transform into (lady?)
(Bowser does so, and Peach laughs)
Peach: Now I want something small and cute.
Kuppa: Small and cute?
Peach: How about a teddy bear.
Kuppa: Yes yes.
Peach: CUUUUUUTE! (Picks up teddy bear)
Peach: Now I caught you! I’m sorry but I had to do this. (locks him in chest, but the chest transforms into Bowser and he holds her in his hand.)
Kuppa: Did you think you could get away with this?
Peach: Let go let go.
Kuppa: (places her in a chair) Don’t try to escape from me because your stupid plans won’t work.
Peach: Mario is going to be here soon to beat you up.
Kuppa: Mario won’t be here.
Peach: Yea he will be here.
Kuppa: I was informed from one of my troops that Mario was captured.
Peach: You’re lying you’re lying you’re just saying that to make me surrender.
Kuppa: It’s up to you whether to believe me or not but you still have to marrrrrry me! (leaves and shuts door)
Peach: No no I don’t want to, Mario come help me quick! (cries)

Good job, KKS! I'm now more informed on this movie than I thought I'd ever be.
