I prefer not to use abbreviations in general text or speech, but I do have a number of extensions that use abbreviations. (Suffix_BRB, Suffix_MIA, Suffix_biz, etc.)

I do often abbreviate game and console names.

I only do the chat speak abbreviations when I'm not being serious or being only semi-serious. The exception would be WTD and its more vulgar counterpart.
