My favorite characters have good jumping ability and are fairly floaty, so, yeah, I don't know exactly when it hits. I kind of know what I'm doing and don't need an easy-to-use jump to avoid it.

I either like floaty characters or balanced characters. Never slow/heavy characters.

ughhhh I hate Olimar. Don't get me wrong, Pikmin was a great game, and Olimar is an innovative character to Brawl. But I have to say I don't like him very much at all.
