I really wanted this one to define Mario as he shall be in SMAAAASH!!. Jolly. Too jolly. So jolly that he's a little bit oblivious. Maybe even to the point that he smiles when he finds out that Peach has been kidnapped because it means another fun adventure for him. But he's not insane or anything. Comic #8 kind of showed some of that, but reality is less compassionate to him this time. He's Super, though--he'll be okay next time!

I got the idea for the comic when I drew this, thinking about this concept of Mario.

Remember that your first Goomba boldly you walk? When Mario touched that mushroom being brought up more largely remember that you are surprised? Miscalculate your jump that pit remember that it falls?

...I just noticed something. See the word in the lower-right corner of the sketch with Mario's hat flying off his head? That word is "SHIFT."
