Okay so
I'm looking to buy FFVII on steam and give my friend the PlayStation version. I know that you need to be online to start playing the game. My question is, (if anyone has an answer,) do you need to be online after loading a save file?

I don't know how helpful this is, but according to some comments here, there's an online mode that stores saves locally.
