I was wondering if DK was a Mario character?  Games with Yoshi, Wario, and them seem to count, but there's no Donkey Kong games in the game list, and he was the first one to star with mario.  What's up wit' dat?  And he's even in Mario games with character choice!

I think that D.K. used to be a Mario character but after he starred in Donkey Kong country, he became a D.K. character instead of a Mario character.

Is Luigi a Mario character, then? And besides the Donkey Kong Country DK is actually Donkey Kong Junior.

Another analogy for you:
Baby Mario is to Mario as Donkey Kong Jr. is to Donkey Kong.

Think about this... If Dk's a Mario character, than Mario should be a DK character, he's been in games where DK's the star. (DK Jr.)

You see, DKJR was made before Shigeru Miyamoto felt that they were popular enough to branch out into their own games. Mario Bros. was a sucess, but DK3 was a total flop, and DK was gone forever until [Rare] tried to make a game starring DKJR as an adult. The Donkey Kong Country games were born. (But I bet y'all knew most of that already)

Yes I mean Rare, but no, they don't own DK. That's why all Rare's games say (C)[Year]Rare and Nintendo.

Rare is a Nintendo company right? So why do the Donkey Kong games always say "used with permission..." or "liscensed by...? If Donkey Kong was created by Nintendo, then why do they need to licence him from Rare in order to use him in games?

In Super Smash Bros., the copyrights on the bottom of the title screen say (C) 1999 Nintendo/Rare/HAL Labs/Game Freak

It's the same with Kirby. He is a Nintendo character right? But why is he owned by HAL Labs? Is HAL Labs a company owned by Nintendo, or are they just liscensing their Kirby characters to them?

"Bwa ha ha! Guess who it is, loyal Mario fans...

It is I, King Bowser... ruler of all Koopas, big and small. I have come to take over the Mushroom Kingdom (no, not the place...I mean the WEB SITE!)! Deezer, you will surrender your troops to me, or else you will never see your precious Mario again! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
People who like video games should also like Nintendo. People who don't like Nintendo obviously don't like video games.

The "DK Model used with permission of Rare UK" thing means that Rare made the Donkey Kong 'sprite' so to speak, even though DK is owned by Nintendo.
