I'm writing a fic as well... I'm a bit over 1/4 done, and, after I've finished that, I've decided to rewrite Mario and TMK Unite. Hanging around fanfiction.net has helped. There's also an RPG I frequent where you need to write stories to gain more party members, and the graders there have given me advice.
