I like 64 better, though I think 64 DS's controls are okay (on Touch Mode, at least).

"How soon our memory fails us. The graphics are the same."

Uh, the DS doesn't support bilinear filtering, so the graphics have a Playstation-like blockiness to them. That sure doesn't look the same to me. Also, some of the models have different amounts of polygons. The DS version also has different textures, most of which look tackier than the N64 version.

No no, see, you're looking at the DS's graphics.  If you play Super Mario 64 after playing something like Super Smash Bros Melee, you really see how blocky everything is.

goodie, I don't know what you're talking about, but in general, the DS models are much nicer and more complex. Also, this is a matter of opinion, but I think most of the textures in SM64DS are far better than the originals in SM64. Not to mention they fixed many things, such as making Thwomps actually look like Thwomps, making the bricks look right, and many other details.

Maybe the DS graphics look blocky to you, but the N64's graphics look much worse than DS' to me, because the 64's graphics were so blurry, low-res, and low-poly.

Also, considering how imprecise the N64's analog stick is, it's no easier to control it on the N64. I actually think I prefer the DS touch screen control.

I thought the N64 control stick was infinitely easier to use than the DS stylus. Case in point; I never used the stylus. I used the d-pad.

Haha.  That's not a "case in point".  It's a case of opinion.  Speaking of which...

I agree.  The original had some textures that were too fluorescent.  Though, maybe it was just the TV settings...

I liked the graphics in SM64DS better.

Oh, and TEM, when you say stylus, you meant the thumb stylus, right?

Blurriness > Blockiness

I think the N64's blurriness is a good thing.  Without it, the graphics would have looked like the PSX's: So blocky that the games are unplayable.

Also the N64's graphics are actually much higher res than the DS. The DS's resolution is 256x192, whereas the N64's is 320x240.

I don't understand why you think the N64's stick is not precise. You push it a little, Mario moves slowly. You push it farther, and he speeds up. Seems pretty precise to me. Plus it is possible to make an adapter to use the GCN contoller on the N64, making the controls even more precise. Using the DS's touch screen is awkward. You have to move the stylus in the direction you want to move, but then when you get to the edge of the screen, you have to pick up the stylus and go back to the other side of the screen and start again- like using a mouse, very annoying.

I'll agree with the analog percision, but my N64 controllers are so old, the sticks don't center up anymore (actualy, same with my Game Cube controllers)
I like DS, it has Yoshi

goodie, what in tarnation are you talking about? You don't use the stylus to control SM64DS, you use the thumb strap. And you don't keep moving your thumb, you just move it over and you move. Move back to the middle or let go and you stop. It's exactly the same as an analog stick.

I can't help but keep moving my thumb, there's nothing there to stop it...
