I was just wondering which Nintendo series people liked the most.

BTW, I wonder a lot of different things!

I think it's pretty obvious that majority of users here will choose Mario over those other series.

Not saying they're bad, but this site is a Mario site after all.

It was a close toss up between Donkey Kong, WarioWare, Pokemon and Metroid, but overall, I chose Metroid. I love it because I think it's probably Nintendo's most epic series. That Gunpei Yokoi was a genius.

Definitely Mario. I also like Kirby and Pikmin, as well as Sonic (although he's not entirely Nintendo). A lot of my friends are into The Legend of Zelda, but I've never really gotten into it. Maybe I should give it a try sometime.

Actually, I'd say that would only be true if this was a "which console do you like, Xbox, PS3, or Wii" poll. People here may like Mario, but they also may like another series of Nintendo even more.

For me, it's a tie between Zelda and Metroid. The Mario games today have, for me, become more about as much random craziness as Nintendo can fit in than about good gameplay (exception: Galaxy), whereas modern Zelda and Metroid games have stayed consistantly awesome.

Just about every one of the most recent installments in every Nintendo series has been in some way a blight on the franchise, I'm tempted to not even bother. But no one wants to hear that whoole song and dance from me again, so... overall, I'd say Zelda, hands down.

I can understand if people didn't like Twilight Princess (same old, same old) and Mario Galaxy (Too easy, also same old), but you can't honestly tell me you didn't love Metroid Prime 3.

MP3 (which is great) was same old, same old. TP, uh, I didn't eat up the Peter Jackson-esque visuals (which is what everybody wanted), and that is all that was all it really had going for it.

In fact, he isn't one bit Nintendo at all!

Also, why is it in style to hate good games these days? Mario Galaxy is amazingly fresh for a 3D platformer and I don't really know where you're coming from with the Peter Jackson comparison but I will say that Twilight Princess was easily the most enjoyable Zelda game I have played.

I can name two off the hat: Boloblins riding those boars, Orks riding wargs, And that guy (Can't remebers his name right now, uh, Ganon's puppet), he looked an awful lot like the Sauron's messenger from Return of the King.

Seconded. As I have said before, I feel many people here have registered just to complain about how terrible games (all of which I've found awesome) have become. It's getting irritating, and it makes me want to not come here anymore. Along with the rude sarcasm and general n00bish behavior that has recently occured here, I just may take a break from this place.

I had to say the Metroid series. The first few 'roid games were all really awesome. Sure the Metroid Primes brought shame to them, but they were decent, and Hunters had awesome multiplayer. I like the Mario series, but overall there are way too many spin-offs. The only Metroid spin-off was a pinball game. Honorable mention goes to F-Zero and Star Fox (both of which are missing from the poll).

They did NOT bring shame. The Prime series is the reason WHY I sort of like Metroid.

Yeah I read it as the Metroid Prime series sucked compared to the side-scrollers (Metroid, Super Metroid, II, Fusion, Zero Mission, etc.). I don't feel that's true, because I like the Prime games even more than the others.

Thirded. I don't see why people hate some of the newer Mario games. I do think they could afford to cut back on the spin-offs a bit, but I like all of the non-spinoff games I've played (haven't played Galaxy, but I'm sure I'll like it). I'm keeping my hopes up for another major Mario adventure on the Wii, maybe not like another major 3D game, but at least something like another RPG.

What's ironic about the spinoffs thing is that this season has shown what is possibly the least amount of Mario spin-offs yet.

Yes, I'm glad about that, but I was referring to games like Strikers and Baseball (they weren't bad games, I just think they were unneccesary), and there'll probably be more sports games like that in the future.

Instead of people debating about my meaning, why don't I make it clear that I enjoyed the 2-D metroid games much more than the Prime series, and I only consider the Prime series to be a spin-off. It brought shame to the entire metroid series because it turned an awesome 2-D shooter into a boring 1st person shooter. Chup: If Megaman was turned into a 1st person shooting series, would you be upset?

I couldn't say until they made one, but yeah probably. Mega Man Legends is a nice 3rd person 3D shooter though (even though I prefer the sidescrollers). But I have to say, it seems like Prime turned a boring meandering 2D shooter with excellent music into an interesting game. But, to each his own.

The only Metroid game that brought shame to the series that was also labeled as a Prime game is Hunters. That game made me give up almost all my interest in future Metroid games.

I also agree with Vid. I love the Prime trilogy much more than the 2-D sidescrollers.

2D Metroid and 3D Metroid is like Guitar Hero III and Rock Band. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but both are totally pimp!

And Hunters is like someone ripped multiplayer Quake out from the past and shlapped it into the present. With portability! And broadband! And hackers.

I was referring more to Phantom Hourglass, but I'm not expecting much from the next "real" Zelda as it is...

In addition, I too favor the Prime series over the side-scrollers, but I feel only the original Prime nailed it. Prime 2 was somewhat repetitive and extremely difficult, and Metroid Prime 3... well, the "Wii-remote" virus kinda infected the people at Retro, and it felt an awful lot like a target-shooter sometimes. Also, the ever-present people/machines telling you what to do made it feel shorter. And the final boss was a totally anticlimatic mess.

I already told you this back in the chat, Prime is definitely not a spin-off, nor is it a sidequest, or anything of that sort. It's just a series of games that takes place in the Metroid series, between Metroid and Metroid II.

It's fine that you like the 2D scrollers better, but to not consider the Prime series a TRUE part of the Metroid series is just ignorant, in my opinion.

I liked the controls of Metroid Prime 3. The Wii-remote definitely worked, in my opinion. The final boss is hair-pullingly difficult in the hypermode difficulty, which I'm sure some people criticizing the game have not tried.

I thought the game was a nice length. I felt it was like Metroid Prime 2 in that area, with the having to go to three distinct areas and fixing them.

A thing I probably would've liked better was if the weapon system was like its predecessors, and similar to the game's visor system. Though, this system did work nicely.

I've never really liked the MP games as much as the side-scrollers. The controls (at least for the GC entries) are still weird to me to this day (I know, it's an adventure game, not an FPS, but they need FPS controls badly), and the only real good MP was the first. To me, MP3 is the Fusion of the series; receiving busywork from NPCs feels stupid in a Metroid game.

I don't think I have afavorite. But let's see...I like The Mario Series, WarioWare, Super Smash Brothers, Pokemon( First Two Generations and FR/LG), and, even though it's not up there, Animal Crossing.
Also, I do not consider Metroid Pime to be a spin-off. But I don't play Metroid much, so I don't know.

I must be in the minority because I actually like receiving directions from NPCs in the Metroid games. Yeah I know part of the charm is being able to roam freely and at your own pace but I no longer consider it fun when I get completely stuck in one area and get out only after an hour of randomly morphball bombing every area.
