Game Blog / SMB Remixed by RAC
« on: April 26, 2008, 04:25:56 PM »

RemixArtistCollective took some classic tracks from the Nintendo and Sega Genesis era and remixed them to create a fresh sound. They have a total of five tracks available for download, including one based on Super Mario Bros. I recommend taking a listen, if only to stroll down memory lane in a newschool bus. Yeah, I went there.

Game Blog / Mario Kart Wii Comics
« on: April 26, 2008, 04:19:17 PM »

So far I've found two recent webcomics that paid tribute to Mario Kart Wii. If I find anymore, I'll update this thread with more links.

On Wednesday, GUComics took an artistic angle at 1up.com's challenge to create a custom Wii Wheel. The result? Well, you'll have to click over to the comic to find out!

Penny-Arcade applies one of Mario Kart's deadliest weapons and applies it to a real-life situation.

Game Blog / Re: Miyamoto: Future Mario Games May Use Balance Board
« on: April 26, 2008, 06:57:21 AM »
I still don't understand why people love the DKC games so much. DKC1 was pretty great, but it was sort of downhill from there. They started adding all these boring and aggravating non-platforming elements to a platforming game and just kept making it less fun. I can't say much about DK64 but I know people who thought the constant character changing was really annoying.

DKJB, on the other hand, has a new and engaging control interface, and nothing but loads of awesome platforming action.

The world must be ending, because I completely agree with Chup on every point he just made.

The kind I skip are like, "Mario Kart Wii was delayed in New Zealand." I'm not in New Zealand, so... you can understand why that one doesn't particularly interest me.

Exactly, that's perfectly understandable. That stuff is posted for that small percent of visitors from that area (when Deezer shows the stats for the sites, you'd be surprised what's there).

I'll try to cut back on"OMG THIS GUY DREW MARIO...ON THE FLOOR WHOA!", I can see where it can get ridiculous, of course. The problem is there is a fine line, and crossing it sometimes happens.

Except Weekend Movie and a (delayed, due to stomach virus, ugh...) Game Cakes entry soon. <---- (Just like BirdPerson avoids New Zealand posts like the plague, if this is too pointless/irrelevant for you, just do the same :-P)

I'm glad no one here has ever visited a blog. They all seem to think what I'm doing has never been done before.

Seriously, you should see the post I don't post. For example, kotaku posted about a guy that got Mario tattoo'd on his butt. Hrm, maybe I should have posted that....

Anyway, my point is that this is how blogs are, and if you don't feel like reading what's posted, you don't have to. I do appreciate if you do read it, and comment on it, and enjoy what I post. If you don't, that's cool too.

I'll post what I post until I'm told differently (hey, and I know a lot of you out there find stories about Mario online, why not send me something you feel relevant rather than complain about what's not, to you?)

I hope I don't come off offended, because quite frankly I could be doing other things that are more fun (playing GTA IV, or any game I have now, comes to mind), but I decide to post on here because I want to help out. If you all feel I am not helping your opinion of the site, I'll back off. I'm happy either way, and just want the best from TMK just like you.

Game Blog / Man Your Desk, with a Starman
« on: April 25, 2008, 03:27:32 PM »

When I'm at work, I sometimes wonder what other clutter my desk needs. Aside from meaningless paperwork and pictures of my son, there's nothing that says "Jesse". Well, ThinkGeek seems to have pegged me down. They are selling this "Super Mario Singing Glow Star". The name explains it all: it plays the Starman theme and glows. Now, I can't guarantee it, but it's rumor that the Starman will also grant you temporary invincibility. Purchase below.

Game Blog / Super Paper Mario Super Good Price
« on: April 22, 2008, 09:28:48 PM »

In my mind, Super Paper Mario really set the stage for Mario on the Wii. Not to take away from Super Mario Galaxy, but one could argue which is the definite Mario title to own. Now amazon.com is selling the game for under 40.00 bucks, making this game a great deal for any of us that haven't been sucked into Dimentio's world.

It may just be because Super-Jesse is around, but Mario Kart Wii seems waaaaaaaaay over-hyped.

I'm trying to avoid as many MKWii posts as possible, but I can't help it if it's the talk of the town.

Game Blog / Separated at Birth: Mario Lookalike
« on: April 22, 2008, 06:06:22 PM »

MSN UK once against spotlights Mario, this time more directly in their "Separated at birth: gaming lookalikes". They picked some celebrities that look like video game characters and try to convince us they are separated at birth. The result?

You tell me.

Game Blog / Happy Earth Day!
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:14:29 PM »

Super-Jesse here with a public service announcement from TMK. Today is Earth Day, are you doing your part as a gamer to help better your planet? Here are a few tips on how you can help:

1) Why not clean up some of the mess around your community? Mario did just that in Super Mario Sunshine. If that game is any indication, all you need is a tripe jump and a talking water pack!

2) How about sing a song to a tree? The Yoshi's have a fruit tree of their own they like to sing to, as seen in Yoshi's Story. "At the Airport", is it?

3) Trade in that gas-guzzler of a car for something smaller, like a Super Mario Kart? Don't worry, if you play your cards right, you may score that awesome gold kart from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

That's all I can think of for now, but you are more than welcome to post your own ideas (Mario-themed, of course) on how you can help the earth today!

Game Blog / Mario Kart Wii NA Commercials Blow Out!
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:07:39 PM »

You know those annoying car commercials that would interrupt the awesome "Wii Would Like to Play" commercials? Well, someone at Nintendo had the bright idea to combine the two, removing anything cool from the latter. What we have left is the commercials for Mario Kart Wii in North America. After watching them, which style of advertising do you prefer?

Game Blog / Japan Celebs Promote Mario Kart Wii
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:05:56 PM »

Mario Kart Wii is getting a lot of hype (and big sales) in Japan. The promotions from Nintendo continue with this billboard featuring model Aki Hoshino and comedian Medaka Ikeno. I'm not too sure who they are, but they must be pretty popular if Nintendo's using them. If you follow the link below, you can also catch a Japanese commercial for MKWii.

Game Blog / Squeeze a NES into a SMB Cart
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:05:42 PM »

I am in awe at how this person managed to shrink down a working NES into a Super Mario Bros. cartridge. He used a clone system (aka not the original NES), but I still applaud the effort it took to create!
