The 90s gave us the SNES, the N64, the best animated television shows ever put out by American studios, and the Internet. What's not cool about it?

The Internet? The Internet was around in at least the '80s. Technically, its foundations have been around since the '60s. I don't know what shows you're referring to except maybe Dexter's Lab. What's not cool about it is the burning, aching need to be cool that everything exuded throughout the decade.
That was a joke.

I think it would be more accurate to say that no era ever was completely cool and was in reality riddled with stupidity. Time periods only appear to be cool when you ignore all of the uncool things.

I can name tons of shows from the 90s that ruled. Where in Hades were you when Batman: The Animated Series or Animaniacs or even Rolie Polie Olie showed up?

A lot of those shows were awesome because you grew up watching them. I mean, what's better than being 7 and watching Batman: The Animated Series. When I was young I was crazy about Beast Wars but looking back, it's incredibly lame. Also, the best cartoon from the '90s is Rocko's Modern Life.

You have to admit that a lot of the kids' shows made in the 90s are generally of better quality than those made in the 80s. Batman TAS definitely stands the test of time, that much I can tell you.

QFT, but I want a sequel to Mario Kart 64. Knowing Nintendo, they'll call it "Mario Kart Dolpin". Meh, they need a new gimmick. Mario Kart is getting boring. Hopefully it's not as dumb as like, two people on one kart. I would NEVER but that game.

Okay, Chef, you got me and yes all 3 of those shows are great. Also X-Men.
That was a joke.

Good thing I got you now. Otherwise I'd have to rattle off a whole bunch of other stuff.

[Post about graphics]
I'm inclined to agree with BP here. While I don't judge a game's awesomeness on its graphics, awesome games with lame or mediocre graphics (even if they were good at the time) make me wish there'd be a remake with better ones to make it even more awesome.

I do like NES SMB's music better than SMAS's, though. I think it's more catchy.

On another note, YES! Animaniacs is awesome, and while I'm not that fond of Batman, I loved Superman: The Animated Series. While not all cartoons were great, after Animaniacs ended, cartoons went majorly downhill. (Anyone remember Hysteria? *Shudder*) Now most cartoons basically look and seem about the same to me--within each genre, of course.

As far as American cartoons goes, you mean.

I don't know about you people, but I could play a game made of different colored blocks and think it was totally great as long as it had good physics. That of course is taking abstraction to its furthest point, but all games are are abstractions anyway, just of varying degrees, so I don't see why games with primitive graphics need remakes.
That was a joke.

Meh. I'm different. I like looking at games as much as I like playing them. I stop and look at Lake Hylia from the Cucco House in Twilight Princess. I get up close and personal with people and objects and look at the details or lack thereof. I watch cutscenes over and over to look at things that go unnoticed. I've examined Brawl pretty thoroughly, in-game and out. Ocarina of Time is a perfect example of a game that's surviving the test of time in most ways, but it has so many potentially great-looking areas. Twilight Princess' Temple of Time has proven that.

The argument that graphics are completely unimportant is bogus. Are you going to excuse pitiful special effects and acting in films if the story is magnificent? No, you're going to complain about it. And don't get me wrong--I don't disregard games if they're not realistic. Art style is important. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Super Mario Galaxy, Wind Waker, F-ZERO GX, and Mirror's Edge stand out. GX mainly because I'm a sucker for neon lights.

I said this before (and it didn't come out right), but it's pointless and illogical to judge things you used to like based on your current preferences. Of course you don't like it now, because TV shows are like every other form of media: Targeted at a certain group of people. Besides, everything sucks and everything is awesome at once; it all is just a point of view. The internet sometimes seems to have difficulty understanding "Good" and "bad" are opinions.
