And his likeness wouldn't have been in the machine if he hadn't existed in the Mushroom Kingdom and surrounding lands.
Remember that your first Goomba boldly you walk? When Mario touched that mushroom being brought up more largely remember that you are surprised? Miscalculate your jump that pit remember that it falls?

However, some Mario fans don't consider SMRPG canonical, because it was made by Square.

The Mario & Luigi games were made by Alphadream.

Er, no the UK is a constitutional monarchy actually.

Anyway, how can the mushroom kingdom be a kingdom if  there is no king or queen ruling it? If peach is the ruler, then it would technically be a principality (like Wales is).

As for SMRPG being canon, I'd say yes.

I still say that King and Queen Toadstool are dead or at least missing, and Peach has to get married to become the next queen.

I know the top one is from the comics, which I don't really consider to be canon, but where did the bottom one come from?

To quote the Wikipedia:
Quote
Adding to the confusion, the game Mario Superstar Baseball and Nintendo's official website for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time refer to Toadsworth as Peach's father--which would be confusing even without the existence of a previous "Mushroom King," as Toadsworth (an anthropomorphic mushroom) and Peach (a human) are apparently members of two different species.
So, I think Toadsworth really has replaced the Mushroom Chancellor/King Toadstool.  Unless the Mushroom Chancellor's name is actually Toadsworth....

Perhaps Toadsworth was an adoptive father of Peach.

Mario Baseball does not refer to Toadsworth as Peach's father. There is however, a joke about about Peach's grandfather:

Lakitu: You're bringing your grandpa!? No wait, it's just Toadsworth.

Whoever added that to the Wiki article is wrong.

Wikipedia is pretty much the worst place for any Mario information. Ever.
That was a joke.

It's okay, I guess. Nothing I learned there I didn't know before.
