This theory relates to Mario's first adventure, Donkey Kong.  The setting: Brooklyn, NY, construction site:

Mario and Luigi are currently working as carpenters for a construction company.  Mario is also currently dating the lovely Pauline, a highschool-sweetheart.  Every day, Pauline eats her lunch period with Mario at the site, while Luigi goes off with some fellow co-workers.

Meanwhile, in another dimention all together, the two apes, Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. are out in the forests of Donkey Kong Country on the lookout for Kremlings and/or bananas.  They instead dicover a strange Warp Pipe.  Since thease arre rare in DKC, they investigate.  Entering the pipe, they arive on Earth.

Earth is an odd world, where the apes don't even talk.  But, then, the two are found by a human scientist, and are captured!  DK Sr. is furious, and bangs his chest and shout obsenities in outrage.  The apes are brought to NY to be examined and studied.  While being transported, they escape and run away.

Meanwhile, it is now lunch at the site, and Mario is waiting for Pauline.  Pauline is walking to him, when, suddenly, two apes coming crashing into her.  Angry, Donkey Kong snatches Pauline as a hostage and quickly climbs the construction site.  DK Jr. hides.

Mario witnesses this and grabs a hammer and chases DK up the builiding.  DK is, in the mean time, throwing barrels off the building at Mario.  Mario chases DK higher and higher, till he is successful in freeing Pauline and sending DK back down the building.  All is well...or is it?

Donkey Kong is placed in captivity again.  Since the only person he seems to fear is Mario, the zoo/scientists ask him to guard DK.  Mario reluctantly accepts.  The sceintists give Mario some special guard weapons and put him in charge.

Donkey Kong Junior, though, is still on the loose and looking for his father.  He discovers where he is: in the zoo in a high building.  DK Jr. then takes up the task of climbing vines, avoiding enemy traps, and collecting keys to free DK.  He does so, and DK and DK Jr. turn to flee, when Mario appears!  He and DK are about to fight, when DK Jr. steps between them and explains their situation.  They're lost in our strange world and just want to get back home.  Mario, though he hates DK, has compassion on the two apes, and lets them escape.  DK and DK Jr. return to DKC.  Mario is fired since the apes escaped.  Not wanting to return to construction, he and Luigi start their own plumbing buisness, like they'd always wanted to do.  Also, Pauline breaks up with Mario and the two become just friends.

YEARS LATER: Donkey Kong has grown up to be Cranky Kong, while DK Jr. is now called just Donkey Kong.  Why do they grow old while Mario and Luigi stay relitively the same age?  That's a hole in the plot I like to keep; it's exactly the type of thing that drives Cranky Kong up the wall!  Anyway, Donkey Kong and Mario are now allies, though Mario and Cranky Kong still are at odds with eachother.

There you go, another fun theory brought to you by Roy Koopa.  Once again, I ask for your feedback, fellow TMK members!

Roy Koopa, your theories are just what TMK's message boards need to get back running.

Kudos to you and keep them coming.

I think that makes sense, one question though.....is Dk jr. from the snes game Mario Kart, Donkey Kong now?
??? so confusing ???

Yes, DK Jr. from "MarioKart" is now the Donkey Kong from "Donkey Kong Country"

I think you're right about the time, KinopioToad.  Have you noticed how things change and characters eventually grow old and die (Wrinkly) in DKC? Also, maybe DKC is on Earth, since DK never really talks in any games he's in with Mario, just ones he's in with the rest of the Kong Clan, where everyone speaks "monkey language".  Mario on the other hand is in TMK, where perhaps people don't age, and stay young, sort of like Never Never Land.
What'chu talkin' bout, Dextah?

As I stated above, I just chose to ignore the aging thing.  I do believe DK Country is in the same world as the Mushroom Kingdom, though.  Mario and Donkey Kong have a lot of interaction, and the existance of Kremlings and other large, talking animal counts earth out in my book.

Other characters I include in the Mario world are Banjo-Kazzoie and Kirby (though Kirby is in Dreamland, AKA Pop-Star, AKA [and this is not official] Sub-Con!)
