Ahh... this looks promising. Well, hate to just rush in a take Mario, so... I'm gonna' anyway. I call Mario! Sorry if anyone had their heart set on him. I promise I'll do a good job.
Let's-a go!
*-*-*
Mario awoke from his bed with a start, managing to retain any form of a yelp or scream. The little plumber panted lightly as he caught his breath, taking his mind off of the nightmare he had awoken from to check and see if he had awoken Luigi, who was a considerably light sleeper. Noticing that he had not, Mario Mario decided to get out of his bed, deciding that he wouldn't be able to get back to sleep again, and it was pretty much morning anyway.
The Mario Bros. house door opened, and Mario stepped out into the warm and welcoming dawn air, clad in his usual attire, besides his red cap, which still resided on a hook inside the house. He exhaled a sigh of relief, closing his eyes for a moment to try and remember his dream--it was fuzzy, unclear, and only a few select sounds wanted to surface in his memory, and of these few was the mocking, racous laughter of King Bowser Koopa.
Mario shook his head, opening his eyes and staring into the dim darkness... "It was-a only a dream, no reason to be alarmed. I've just had too many run-ins with that creep," he murmured sleepily.
Looking up, Mario's sleep-hazed but still bright, sky blue eyes reflected the rising sun over the mountains. The unique sunlight of dawn filtered down over the green foliage of the Mushroom Kingdom, glinting amiably through tree branches and perfectly green leaves, playing off of the random assortment of sparkling bodies of water--lakes, rivers, streams, the occasional pond. The Sun's heralding glow fell over the lime green Warp Pipe that warped Mario and his younger brother, Luigi, to Toad Town, then onto the steps of their house, over their mailbox, and eventually onto the danger-wary form of Mario.
The morning sunlight gave him back his usual sense of peppy serenity and duty which so naturally fit his character, so that he only noticed it when it was gone and back again. And Mario felt that things would be alright. But... was all really at peace?
See how the mustache hides the slightly sad smile... and the sideburns, portraying his simple, blue-collar roots... and his legs, thick, wide, the legs of the masses!
