I don't think it's fair to make a binary choice here. I think that, for the most part, they'd like to give the impression that the elites are picked for their worth and, for the most part, they try hold towards the ideal of meritocracy, but unfortanitely meritocracy is exactly that: an ideal. Family background is always a part of the decision; I don't think its possible to avoid it. But at the same time, its impossible condemn the process simply for that; family background has had a long-standing connection with honor and reverence, and is not without its significance both with the selected individual and the way that individual is recieved by the public.
...um, yeah...
Anyway, as far as school goes, I'm done.
Graduated last saturday, had my last final monday (it's a weird system, okay?)
I'm now officially unemployed.
