That isn't a guide....instead of getting your postcount up by posting answers to stuff people ask you, you should make one big guide out of your first post. This seems like an easy way to get postcount up.

[100] Disconnecting
Sometimes when racing someone they will get disconnected. Sometimes it is because of a problem with their DS/WiFi connection and sometimes they just don't want to race you anymore. There really is no way to know which it was.

[101] What happens if I shut off my DS before the first course selection?
If you turn off your DS before the first course selection you won't gain any losses.

[102] What happens if I shut off my DS in the middle of a race?
If you turn off your DS when in a race you will gain one loss for each person you are racing.

[103] What happens if I get disconnected?
You will normally get a loss for each person you were racing against. Sometimes you won't, it depends how you were disconnected.

[104] What happens if my opponent gets disconnected and there is still more than just me left?
The race will continue normally without that player.

[105] What happens if my opponent gets disconnected and I'm the only one left?
The race will end and you won't gain any wins or losses.

[200] Connecting to WiFi
To play other users online you will need to connect to WiFi.

[201] How do I connect to WiFi?
1. From the main menu choose "Nintendo WFC"
2. From there choose "Nintendo WFC Settings"
3. Tap on the "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" panel.
4. Tap the connection that you want to use (Either 1, 2, or 3)
5. Tap "Search fir a Access Point"
6. The DS will list all Access Points that it found
6.1 If there is a blue lock icon you can use that Access Point
6.2 A red lock means you can use it, but will need to enter a WEP key
6.3 A grey icon means you cannot use the Access Point due to security settings
7. Select the connection you want to use
8. Tap "OK" to test out the connection, you will get "Connection Successful" if it worked
9. Return to the "Nintendo WFC" menu
10. Choose Nintendo WFC match, and the rest is pretty simple.

[202] What if I'm not near an Access Point/HotSpot?
You will either need to buy a USB WiFi adapter from Nintendo.com or a wireless router.

[203] Where can I get Nintendo's USB adapter?
This can currently only be bought online from Nintendo.com
Here: http://tinyurl.com/d8hh2

[204] Where can I find hotspots?
You can search for hotspots here: http://www.nintendowifi.com/hotspots/searchHotSpot.do

[205] Where is a list of compatible routers?
You can find a list here: http://www.nintendowifi.com/consumerservice/routerSetup.do

[300] Online Play
Online play with NintendoWiFi is pretty simple, but limits you in several areas.

[301] How do I communicate with other players?
You can't, it's as simple as that. Nintendo did not want players communicating because of the number of children that will be playing this game.

[302] How can I get the Friend Codes of someone I just raced?
Again, you can't.

[303] Someone has an offensive name or icon, where can I report it?
Taken from nintendo's Forums
" Hello Racers,

Okay, we all knew that when logging onto Mario Kart DS, we are going to see many Kart Emblems created by other gamers. We also knew that a wide range of Age will play this game Online, including children under 13 years of age. We also knew that there's bound to be a few non-G-rated emblems.

If you want to report an inappropriate screen name or emblem in Mario Kart DS:

1. Write down the Screen-Name of the Gamer.
2. send Nintendo an e-mail. DO NOT CALL! Folks, send this via e-mail because there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NINTENDO'S CALL CENTER CAN DO ABOUT IT. However, e-mail us, and we can forward the information to folks who can do something about it.
3. Explain the situation clearly, and give the Screen-Name of the offending Gamer. To help speed things up, please put "NO NEED TO RESPOND, JUST WANTED TO REPORT THIS." That way, the e-mail person can just click a couple buttons to forward it appropriately, and go back to answering e-mails.

It's the same thing as reporting nasty content here on NSider Forums. See something that offends you, report it to a MOD. In Mario Kart DS, see something offensive, Report it directly to Nintendo via an e-mail.

Let's all make Mario Kart DS ONLINE a safe place for Children, Parents, and other Gamers.

And no, a Montreal Canadiens symbol is NOT considered to be offensive content. Maple Leafs, maybe, but not the Habs"

[304] What modes are playable online?
The only mode available online is racing. There can be up to 4 players per race, and you can race on 20 of the games 32 tracks.

[305] That person cheated!(Was probably lag)
Chances are if you think someone was cheating because they seemed to just appear in front of you it was probably just one of you encountering some lag. Nothing more. As far as I know, there is no way to cheat in this game.

[400] Friend Codes
Nintendo's Friend system.

[401] What are friend codes?
Friend codes are how you add people to your friends list in Mario Kart DS.

[402] Where can I find other's Friend Codes?
There are a couple ways.
-Ask your friends for theirs
-Use a Friend Code database like http://NintendoFrienDS.net
-Use the topic here:Black Mage's topic

[403] How can I add a friend to my list?
Both you and the person you are adding must enter each other's Friend Codes.

[404] How many friends can I have?
You can have up to 32 friends. However, it says 60 in the booklet.

[500] Miscelanous
Section for the other questions.

[501] Who is R.O.B.?
R.O.B. was an addon for the NES, who has appeared in several Nintendo games since then. He is also an unlockable character.
Picture:

[502] What are 'Staff Ghosts'?
The best racers of the staff recorded their best runs into the game, and you can race against them. You have to unlock them irst.

That's all.

If you need anymore help just ask.

Thank you very much, Aarom11! I Have already completed it though, exept all the high scores. But, I'm sure plenty of players will find this very helpful! Your time and effort is appreciated.

« Reply #7 on: December 23, 2005, 04:09:02 PM »
That took some effort... I would have trouble coming up with questions for such a long post.

By the way... the link you gave for the list of compatible routers? I don't suggest using it, because on that website, it lists the D-Link DI-524 ver. A1 router incompatible, but that's the router I have and it works like a charm.

Hmm... When you are connecting to WiFi, do you just have to be near the router and let the game do the rest, or do you have to go to some nintendo.com page to connect? Probably a dumb question, but I don't have the game yet)

I've just unlocked Mirror mode, and I was wonderign what difficulty level it's equal to. Example: In Mario Kart 64, Mirror mode karts go as fast as 100cc karts.
If my son could decimate Lego cities with his genitals, I'd be [darn] proud.

Mirror is 150cc.

I should also mention that online is 100cc.

Brand new info!

You know that you can use any kart for any character right?

Well the character you are using determines the weight no matter what kart you are in.

Character  +/- weight

Dry Bones -20
Toad         -14
Yoshi        -8
Peach       -5 (I think Peach is gaining weight :D)
Daisy        -2
Mario        +/-0
Luigi         +/-0
Waluigi      +3
DK            +7
Wario        +11
Bowser      +20
R.O.B.       +20
