Also, I don't "follow" it as much as I used to, but I still have a lot of old Garfield strips I love, and there's usually good new one every now and then. I think it's just the combination of cynicism, visual gags, and the occasional weirdly obscure cultural reference.

I mean that despite it usually being a pretty straightforward, one-note joke comic, there's the intermittent reference to things like Shecky Greene or trivets.
