The cat died today, so I'm a bit on the sad side right now.
Also, why do people say "marry-o" instead of "Mario"?

Sometimes I say it like that mockingly, much like how I say Pokemans and call every video game system a Nintendo.

That Marry-O and Sonic at the Olympic Games commercial galled the heck outta me.

I found that "Marry-O" is sometimes due to a New Yorker accent. My friend at college and my dad, and my grandparents are all from New York and they all pronounced it as "Merry-O."

The Chef · « **Reply #4535 on:** June 02, 2008, 06:04:27 PM »

My entire family and I pronounce it as "Marry-O", and we're all in New York.

BriGuy92 · « **Reply #4536 on:** June 02, 2008, 06:20:51 PM »

Yeah, but the guy on Into the Score does not have a New York accent, but he still says Marry-o.

Let's go paak dah cah and go to woik, Marry-o.

Captain Jim · « **Reply #4538 on:** June 02, 2008, 06:25:13 PM »

I've taken to calling Sonic "Soh-nik" because of that.

Ambulance Y · « **Reply #4539 on:** June 02, 2008, 06:40:13 PM »

I call him (with good old midwestern verve) "Sahn-Ick".

Stop making fun of my coast.

The Pwnerer pronounces it Merry-O, and the first couple times he talked about Mario games, it threw me. I didn't know what the x he was talking aboot. But he's from Canadia.

ShadowBrain · « **Reply #4542 on:** June 02, 2008, 07:13:26 PM »

Well, they say it like that in Rawest Forest, but that's only so it's more alliterative with "Marrymore".

Chupperson Weird · « **Reply #4543 on:** June 02, 2008, 08:04:35 PM »

The original version of the SMRPG Song pronounces it correctly.

I lost a friend because I wouldn't walk two hours in the 85 degree heat tomorrow to eat at a Cici's just because "he wanted pizza", even though the place we were going to be had a local Pizza Hut.
