Actually, my friend has hair just like that. At least, I think it's him...roughly two years ago he was consumed by the hair and they merged into one lifeform.

I think it's because of the people that posted solely to gain a high post count through the Forum Games, which is ridiculous and means they don't add really benefit the FF community... at least not very much. The FG isn't exactly much of a place for conversation, unless you're talking about a nonsensical conversation.
