There were many subtle references [and mistakes] I noticed in the Mario movie.
Examples...
-The video screen in the police car has a little ?-Block blinking on it.
-The desert is called Koopahari Desert [look at the sign when Mario and Luigi are just about to enter the tunnel], this was the name for Desert Land in the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 3.
-Bob-Omb had a wind-up fuse, just like in Super Mario Bros. 2 [USA version].
-Thwomp, although didn't have an actual appearance, did have his name mentioned a bunch of times [look on the walls of the buildings].
-Ironically, Koopa's twin towers looked EXACTLY like the World Trade Center towers...
-Princess Daisy wore a pink dress that looked just like Princess Peach's from the games! Though Daisy's dress showed more skin!
-Yoshi was a cute dinosaur with a long tongue, although he wasn't green!
-Mario and Luigi did NOT wear overalls in the movie. If you look art their suits, you'll notice that they are simply sweat suits with red/blue [Mario] and green/blue [Luigi] colors on them.
-The Mushroom did not make Mario grow big, but it did triple in size when Koopa shot it with the Devo Gun.
-The Bullet Bills were simply cartridges the Mario brothers put into their Stomper Boots to make them jump high.
-Mario did not jump directly on the enemies [Goombas]; but on the other hand, Mario took of his boot and shot it at a group of Goombas.
-At least Big Bertha was big... and fat.
-Iggy was a name referenced to one of the Koopa Kids, and Spike was a name referenced to an old Super Mario Bros. 3 enemy.
-Koopa had spikey hair, kind of representing the spikes on Bowser's shell...
-Not all the monsters were Goombas. There were Koopa Troopas as well. The Goombas had pudgy round heads, while the Koopas had long beaks.
-Who the Hell is Lena?

That's all I can think of. If I missed any, please tell me.
