Uh... you know why they created white bread? It was so the rats would quit eating the people's bread. They took out the food part of bread and left behind the junk parts so not even vermin would eat it. White bread isn't nutritious, it just gums up your insides. And it tastes nasty.
That was a joke.

Well, I don't get any good bread, just generic-brand. No Sarah Lee, no Wonderbread, just generic. The wheat bread tastes better than white bread, in my opinion. However, it's not as plyable, meaning you can't make my world-famous GIGANTIC BALLS OF BREAD with wheat.

But I prefer Evil Bread myself.

What about white wheat?  It's actually good.  BTW, I voted for wheat.  We eat wheat, whole grain, and/or white wheat here.  Wheat wraps are okay, but I prefer the soy/flax/wheat wraps.

I'll only eat wheat bread, preferably the heel/end and/or toasted.
I never have liked the taste of white bread.

Hmm, I am a fan of both, but push comes to shove, I'd take potato bread.

But I chose white. I really love the butt and head of the load. Those are the best parts.

I prefer wheat to white, but I'd prefer oat bread to wheat bread, or even better, multi-grain bread.  It's moot since I almost never have sandwiches.

As long as it isn't caramelized white bread (or white bread), I like it. The grainier the better.

LOL!  Now that's my kind of typo.

I also eat a lot of 100% whole wheat english muffins.

I really like both.  The crust on white, tho, is better (in my opinion).  However, i do know that wheat bread is better for you.

My favorite is rye bread, but I didn't see it as an option on the polls.

I usually buy Peppridge Farm rye. Seedless is my preference, though I'll eat any multi-grain bread no matter what.

I also like wheat. And I can't stand white. When I have frankfurters or bratwurst, I will buy the whole wheat buns. I also insist on the wheat hamburger buns. The only time I eat white bread is if I am out and the bratwurst, hamburger, fish sandwich, or frankfurter comes on a white bun. Even with a fish sandwich, I often will take the fish off and eat it with a knife and fork--the fish sandwich buns are usually much too doughy for my liking.

There is also a bread at the Bravo Italian restaraunt which is quite good. It's not white but isn't wheat either. It comes in sort of rectangular cuts, if anyone knows what I'm talking about. This bread is quite good, especially with butter. I'm not sure of the name, though.

And speaking of preferences, since I for some reason cannot seem to post a new topic in this forum, I will ask here what sort of lettuce they prefer in their salad. I like everything except iceberg. The leafy dark greens and the purple-colored lettuces are my favorite. Buy the European or Italian salad mix at your grocer, they should contain this.

I like dark lettuce, so I guess that means I'm going with Romaine.  Also, I like grain bread, but I'm with SushieBoy:  People who ditch white are kind of weird (unless they are at least in their 30's)... That's just the way it is.  You can't undo the weirdness by arguing against it.

EDIT:  Especially when said arguments aren't true!

Quote from: The Encyclopedia
The development of white bread was a response to the adaptation of the grocery business to modern commerce. Bleaching gives white flour a far longer shelf life than whole wheat flour, and bread made from it likewise has a longer shelf life.

I searched for a source to back up the rat story but found nothing.

I must admit that my story's source is my father so I cannot verify it.
I still intensely dislike white bread. Because it's barely even bread. Sadly, reading that wikipedia article, it looks like any commercially-produced bread is barely even bread. :(
That was a joke.

Lettuce puns are gay.

WTD is it with people who still use "gay" as a derogatory term? It's as if they WANT to annoy the people who have stated time and time again in the same place that it's very disrespectful and rude....

Not to mention that it's the single most ineffective insult I can think of.

Different people have different taste buds, that's all. You think white bread is disgusting; I think wheat bread (well, mass-produced wheat breads) has a really strange texture. Now, wheat breads you find at, say, a specialty bread store, those are delicious. Expensive, but still delicious.
